Product Details
Fisher-Price Select-a-Show Soother
This is a refresh of the successful Ocean Wonders Take Along Projector Soother with the original Miracles and Milestones Select-a-Show Soother functionality. The base utilizes the cute penguin character from the Discover n' Grow.

Three buttons on the front include one for classical music and lullabies, one for nature sounds, and a mode selection button that will allow mom to choose between music only, projection only, or music and projection. A slide switch on the side of the unit acts as an off, low, high switch. There are 3 cards that allow for a variety in projected images.

The first card for the youngest of babies projects 3 high contrast images of the Discover n' Grow characters. As baby grows and their eyesight develops, Card #2 projects 3 different colored butterfly images that gives the illusion they are moving. For the growing child, Card #3 is the most interesting with the most detailed full color projected image. Plays up to 15 minutes of music.

My baby loves this toy!

Comments about Fisher-Price Select-a-Show Soother:

I received this toy as a baby shower gift. My husband and I had endured 2 sleepless nights in a row when we finally opened up the penguin and turned him on. Ever since, our baby relaxes into sleep and now that he's 4 months, I see him watching the light show on the ceiling too. Yes, the projection is a bit out of focus, and yes, the slides fall out of the back if you tip it backwards, but overall this toy has proved entertaining for our son. I also like the option to choose between either music or soothing ocean wave sounds. It would be 5 stars if there were a simple adjustment to sharpen the projection image on different ceiling heights and a better design to hold in the slides when moving the toy around. Otherwise, we are very happy with this product- the Mom that purchased this for my baby shower knew what she was doing!

Disappointing Purchase

Comments about Fisher-Price Select-a-Show Soother:

I purchased the Discover ’n Grow Select-a-Show Soother from my local toystore as a Christmas present whilst looking for a toy that would provide distraction and relief for my baby before going to bed. Although the selection of sounds and music that the device creates are adequate and of some interest to my child, the light effects were less than satisfactory. The light source when turned on does not readily reach the ceiling with minimal clarity, brightness and focus. I tried to aim the unit at the wall on an angle, so that the light beam had a shorter distance to travel. At a distance of about 30cm, brightness was adequate, but focus is still blurry and the image unclear and the size of projection is greatly reduced. To achieve this amended position, I had had to balance the unit on an angle that meant that it was quite unstable. Whenever I repositioned the unit and tipped/rotated it, the slide and spare slides all fell out, clattering to the floor and disturbing my child's pre-sleep routine. Frustrating, disappointing.
