This mirror comes with a long electric cord off of the back. I assumed that it would use batteries because it is not apparent from the picture or description that it is electric. Cords might be okay for users with proper vanities, but cords are not a good idea next to the sink, which is where we needed light as well as magnification.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    This was a last-minute Christmas present for my fiancée. Price was competitive, [...] and product was exactly as described. She loves the bright light and the adjustable height, and the nickel finish looks good. Be aware that this mirror only offers 5x magnification - there is no inset "regular" 1x mirror as you might find on a pricier product. Great value!
