The Whynter ARC-12SD air conditioner is used to cool a bedroom suite that is 20ft by 18ft with a large portion having 16ft ceiling. This room is on the north side of the house but does receive east and west sun(so solar heat). ARC-12SD used on warmer and/or humid days only. Unit works well but not as fast at cooling area compared to comparable window unit. I do not consider this a problem if planning ahead. Do not know yet what the energy consumption is. Useable window plate but should be a bit better in: (1) attaching to window frame, (2)making sure rain does not get in, and (3)excluding flying insects. Have not had a problem yet with 2 & 3 but these have not been challenged thus far. I like not having to put in and take out a window AC. The Whynter unit provides a very comfortable environment to sleep in. Happy camper. Would recommend this to someone with a climate like New England. [...]

This is by far the coldest 12000 BTU unit I've ever had, window or portable. Huge room was cooled in 45 mins. No problems. Looks good, nice control panel. I would definitely recommend for big spaces.

A 300sqft room full of pulsating servers needs a lot of help staying cool. We have 2 of these strategically setup and it so comfortable that it's tempting to take a nap in here. We do occasionally play poker here on weekend duty. Easy to setup, we have it venting into the walls. This is not the conventional setup but if you know what you're doing and need to use this in a windowless room, it's quite easy. The dual hose design is great for drawing out the hot air, very efficient and cools better and faster than a window unit. Extremely pleased with the performance and dependability.
