Comments about VIZIO S3821W 38-Inch 2.1 Channel Home Theater Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer:

I bought this based on reviews I had seen but have not been overwhelmed by the performance of the system. The soundbar itself performs well and has reasonably good bass/treble controls and good volume. It definitley outperforms the sound that comes from the TV.
My disappointment is the subwoofer which, in my opinion is barely audible. I had to put my head right up to it to determine if anything was coming out. Unfortunatly it does not have a volume control, only an on/off switch. Both the soundbar and the subwoofer require their own powersource so between the soundbar, subwoofer, TV, DVR, etc. you will definitely need a power strip.
I was expecting a more movie theater experience and this system just does not give that. Yes, sound quality is good but the subwoofer does not provide enough sound to create the ambiance you are looking for with this type of upgrade. Yes, it's better than TV speakers but that's all I can really say for it. I indicate I would recommend this to a friend, but only for the reason just stated and because of the low price relative to many other soundbars.
    A few other comments:
    1. It comes in a funky shaped box which would be somewhat difficult to return for service, if needed.
    2. It does come with all the cords you would need to connect it to your TV. Hopefully you can use the 2 foot long optice cord for the best sound quality.
    3. The remote is easy to use and understand.
    4. You do have to synch the subwoofer with the soundbar each time you turn on the TV. Easy to do but somewhat inconvenient.
