Following the instructions and predrilling is a must! The wood will split, but if you take your time the results are flawless. Definitly a two person assembly, I had only my 4 year old grandson, but he learned many valuable lessons about such a project, a great father and son experience, plus he enjoyed helping sort, count and assembling all the parts with me. My only draw back was checking all the pieces of wood which had no parts code on them, which the instruction guide clearly pictured? I spent 3 hours sorting everything and laying each group of items out on a tarp to better find the parts as I began assembly. Once completed the unit was sturdy and realiably strong. I was completely satisfied with my finished product and hope to get years of use from it!

The product is functional, though I would focus on having only younger children on it. The wood is so soft, and it gives the impression heavier children may easily break the boards. The wood is "China-Fir" or "Chinese Cedar", which while durable is extremely soft. The key problem I have with the product is that the boards split very frequently during assembly when I would put the screws in. So many split that my wife suggested we just scrap the unit and purchase another made of stronger wood. If I had to do it over again, I would buy another unit with higher quality wood.

Comments about Swing-N-Slide Chesapeake Wood Complete Ready-to Assemble Swing Set Kit:

My husband worked for a few hours on each of 4 Saturdays to put this together. It was not difficult but he did have to pre-drill holes in a few of the boards to prevent them from splitting. We bought this for our 4 children, ages 3-10 and all of them love to play on it. It is sturdy and the multuple levels really increase the fun. We are very happy with the purchase.

We bought this swing set for our 4 & 6 year old boys after investigating many others. This had the climbing wall and monkey bars included for a reasonable price. The [...]assembling was more than expected but in the end it was worth it. The boys love it and it will be put to good use for years.

[...] Assembly was complex but it went very well because we followed the instructions. I recommend getting at least 2 helpers for the first 4 hours of the project. Once it's set, you can finish up on your own or with one extra helper. In total, the project took about 10 hours to compelte.

Comments about Swing-N-Slide Chesapeake Wood Complete Ready-to Assemble Swing Set Kit:

NIce swing set for the money. My kids wanted separate monkey bars and swing and this was one of the only ones to fit the bill. It took a three day weekend to build but we are happy with it. It says for up to age 10 but I think it's ideal for 6-7 yr olds. My only problem with the swing set is that it could use anchors on the A frame of the swings. They lift off the ground with strong swinging so we'll be adding our own.

Purchased the product for my 9 yr old child. She loves it. Materials seem quite rugged and durable. However, the assembly instructions were terrible causing assembly to be quite time consuming. We are also missing parts to the product (tarp, and steps).

Comments about Swing-N-Slide Chesapeake Wood Complete Ready-to Assemble Swing Set Kit:

Not a bad product once you get it up. I had two sets of directions, on came with it and the other I got online. They were different directions requiring different steps with different boards and hardware for the same product. The directions weren't real clear in several areas and some of the wood boards were not the same specs as what was in the directions. I was missing a couple boards and had 20 or so left over (because of group packaging). I was also missing a bracket. After buying additional hardware from [...] and cutting some boards, the swingset was done. Also, the swingbar/hangbar shown in the photo is different than what you get. The one you get is much cheaper quality. Once again, not a bad final product, but the directions could be better. For someone who does not have the "do it yourself" ability to improvise, good luck. For those who can build with ease, consider the directions as more of a visual guide than a step by step.
