This is an update to my prior post. I have since upgraded it to a 3 star rating. Again, assembly was rather difficult, largely due to some of the materials being on the flimsy side. The mantle and base are solid wood, but the vertical supports should be more sturdy. The visual efx of the logs and flames are nice, although the flame does make a clicking noise - likely the concealed color wheel in motion. Amount of heat produced is fair....comes from a rather small opening. It's an OK fireplace...faux slate is nice looking, but the assembly and quality of parts were a disappointment .... thank goodness I was able to get this on sale. I JUST BLEW [$] ON THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE (AND I'M FURIOUS!), AND RETURNING IT WOULD BE A MAJOR INCONVENIENCE (IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE). I SPENT 3 HOURS ON ASSEMBLY AND BARELY GOT ANYTHING ACCOMPLISHED, AS THE WOOD (ASSEMBLY) MATERIAL IS POOR QUALITY, AND GETTING THE SCREWS TO STAY IN PLACE WAS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE, WHICH MEANT INSECURE CONSTRUCTION/STABILIZATION. I AM NOT ABLE TO REPACKAGE THIS, SO I LOST A BUNDLE ON THIS ONE, AND PLAN TO TOSS IT IN THE DUMPSTER. BTW....THE ASSEMBLY PROCESS WAS SO POOR, THAT I DIDN'T EVEN GET TO FINAL ASSEMBLY WITH THE FIREBOX; PERHAPS I'LL JUST USE THAT ALONE TO GIVE OFF SOME HEAT. THIS PURCHASE WAS A TOTAL WASTE, AND DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND AVOID BUYING THIS FIREPLACE.....INSTEAD, GET ONE THAT REQUIRES NO ASSEMBLY.
