Sony MDRXD200 Home Headphones
The Sony MDR-XD200 Stereo Home Headphones are a great pair of headphones that deliver high quality sound at an affordable price. With 40mm diameter, dome-type driver units and long-stroke diaphragms, your music will sound great. The MDR-XD200 driver units reproduce surprisingly-clear sounds at a wide frequency range (10-22,000Hz). These substantial headphones feature neodymium magnets for greater power handling and higher frequencies. Five times more powerful than standard earphone ferrite magnets of the same size, neodymium magnets mean that the Sony MDR-XD200 Stereo Headphones maximize energy, while keeping size to a minimum.

With the MDR-XD200, Sony has taken special care to please both the audiophile and cinema-geek. The MDR-XD200 features a sound mode switch (music or movie) to more adequately match the sound source. With a simple flip of a switch, you can focus the headphones' frequency range to make your music come to life or bring you that much closer to your favorite film star. Of course, Sony has not scrimped on comfort. The Sony MDR-XD200 Stereo Headphones feature an ear-conscious design with soft earpads for your long-lasting listening comfort.

Sony MDR-XD200 Headphones

By Computerhobbyist

Comments about Sony MDRXD200 Home Headphones:

The Sony MDR-XD200 Studio Monitor Series Stereo Headphones are an exemplary audio accessory for listening to great music, radio programs, and audio books anywhere portable audio equipment can be enjoyed. This Sony product provides outstanding bass reproduction from its professional grade 40mm dynamic stereo speaker drivers and upscale headphone component feature set. This unit produces spectacular sound quality for any music, movie, or game that you care to select from your personal library. The Sony headphones feature a user selectable movie/music sound mode slide switch on each ear cup to instantly optimize this unit’s low bass note reproduction for major motion pictures or the classical concerto CD that you have lying around. I find the movie/music preset sound mode switches easy to adjust, ergonomically positioned on the lower half of each ear cup, and the equalization settings are acoustically accurate on movie theater soundtracks or rock n’ roll music accordingly. This unit’s movie setting yields a more powerful deep bass effect for a big screen action picture. Conversely, the music preset selection exhibits slightly less low frequency response, and is more suitable for your favorite songs as a result. The split headband is very comfortable, and the ear cups rest in a natural position over my ears for extended private listening sessions. The extra-long 11.5 ft. oxygen-free copper single-sided cord that emerges from the left ear cup comes in handy when I listen to a component stereo system or a TV from across the room. The cord can be neatly folded-up with a cable tie when it is connected to a portable audio player. As usual, the Sony MDR-XD200 headphones offer a 3.5mm gold-plated stereo mini plug connector for seamless compatibility and connectivity with the widest range of portable, MP3, home audio, video game system, or computer equipment possible. The gold-plated stereo mini plug connector enables maximum signal transfer from the source component to your ears. What’s great about this pair of Sony headphones is that a 1/4 stereo unimatch adapter plug is included in the packaging. The gold-plated unimatch adapter enables the user to connect the headphones to a 1/4 inch stereo headphone jack on a component CD player, digital recorder, or tape deck to monitor recorded sound in real time. The Sony MDR-XD200 headphones exhibit versatile vocal range on traditional opera musical scores. In particular, countertenor, tenor, baritone, and bass vocals from male singers are vibrant, clear, detailed, present perfect pitch, and are powerful. Female vocalists are well-defined, naturally pleasant, and superbly warm across the soprano, mezzo-soprano, and contralto vocal ranges. Vocals on classic rock, alternative new wave, country, the oldies, disco, the blues, and love songs feature a marvelous presentation on a deeply vibrant soundstage. Musical instrument reproduction is precise on guitar and drums. Overall, I find that the harmonica, tambourine, violin, oboe, flute, cello, clarinet, mandolin, saxophone, banjo, bass guitar, snare drum, piano, and harp instruments utilized across the musical genres are recreated with a live concert venue atmosphere that is just refreshing to experience on a daily basis. The Sony Studio Monitor Series headphones demonstrate compelling deep bass performance that enables a tune to have a wonderful foundation that all of the other parts of the song can stand on. Whether it’s the latest action movie or a new rock band release, the Sony MDR-XD200 outputs immersive sound quality that is an absolute joy to hear and feel. I am unable to hear other outside distractions in my immediate environment when wearing the Sony headphones. I find this product to be distortion-free in the treble and midrange frequencies. The Sony MDR-XD200 Studio Monitor Series stereo headphones are an excellent choice for the budget-minded consumer and dedicated low bass enthusiast. The Sony headphones sport an over-the-ear design, sturdy construction, and reliable operation. The Sony headphones provide the following high-end portable audio feature set: stereo reproduction, 40mm diameter dome type drivers, high-energy 360 kJ/m3 neodymium magnets, long-stroke diaphragms for extended low frequency response, pressure-relieving ear cushions with plush urethane leather padding, adjustable wide headband for maximum comfort, left/right ear cup placement marks, over-the-head closed dynamic ear conscious design, high quality voice coils, lightweight design, black/silver exterior finish, 1500mW power handling capacity, 10-22,000Hz frequency response, 70 ohms at 1 kHz impedance rating, 102db/mW sensitivity rating, and this unit's weight is 7.77 ounces. The Sony MDR-XD200 headphones include a 90-day parts and labor limited manufacturer warranty. The Sony stereo headphones are ideal for use at home, at work, outdoors, traveling, and listening to the radio. I use the Sony MDR-XD200 headphones primarily to listen to my Sony XPLOD boomboxes for a thrilling portable audio performance. The Sony headphones do not come with a carrying pouch for storage or an in-line volume control. Lastly, the Sony MDR-XD200 Studio Monitor Series headphones permit me to enjoy extended hi-fi playback sessions for cinema releases, club music, and the latest video games on demand. Good Luck. Enjoy.

Comments about Sony MDRXD200 Home Headphones:

This is the best headset I've gotten ever! The sound of this headset actually compares to the sound of my turtle beach x41. a 7.1 virtual sound headset is almost beaten but a 20$ headset.. Great work Sony.. have had this around 2 years now and running with no problems at all.

Comments about Sony MDRXD200 Home Headphones:

I have had them for only one day, but the sound is awesome! Better than my Beats by Dr.Dre! And I only paid 24.99 for them! They are almost always on sale somewhere. Obviously, I can not rate the reiability since they are less than a day old. Oh, and listening to songs, I heard so much more detail! But I don't hear a difference between the movie and music selector. They sound great on my phone, I-Pod, laptop, home theater, everything! Definitely a must buy.

Like them there big, good sound and have a switch on the side for movie mode or music mode. Only difference I can tell is there is more base with the movie mode. Plus the cord is long and has the larger adapter included nice.

Comments about Sony MDRXD200 Home Headphones:

For the money this set is hard to beat. I think any headphones I've had that I would rate much better than these cost at least 3 times as much. Perfectly adequate for listening to music or movies while working.

Comments about Sony MDRXD200 Home Headphones:

Bought these over a year ago. Got addicted to ém from day1. They sound very crystal clear and crisp. The only problem occurs when the track contains very low-end frequencies, where these get a bit cranky n out of breath. Excellent for watchin movies. Cuz of the weak body. they broke at the joint of the headband n the earcup. Now planning to buy the V6s once and for all.

Clear and Powerful Audio... On a Budget !

          By Anonymous

          from Ottawa,ON

Comments about Sony MDRXD200 Home Headphones:

I'll tell you all right now, if you like playing music through your iPod I recommend you stop right here, and purchase Sony ear buds. These are NOT headphones to plug into that kind of audio source. These are meant for you to enjoy on a DJ monitor OR in your home theater system ! I've heard people complain, " they don't go loud enough" or " they have no bass". I say BS , you HAVE TO plug them into a Hi-Fi audio source to get the sound they are meant to produce out of them. I think for the money, these are the best you can buy. With Neodymium magnets, and relatively comfortable padding, you can't go wrong! These things put out real sharp low kicks when you want them, and spectacular mid-range. The highs aren't as crisp as i'd like, but they are there for sure. If you are so inclined to know, your ears will ring if you use these to their full potential. Trust me on that one. I plan on going to the XBR-700 series next, and try those out. If you're an audiophile on a budget, these are for you! Turn it up !
