Overall, this is a great blu-ray player. When I opened the box I was surprised at how compact this player is. It looks really cool on my entertainment unit shelf next to my other components and the soft ambient light on the player while powered on looks really good. Set-up was a breeze and it was up and running in a few minutes. The wi-fi set-up was incredibly easy and painless and I commend Sony for that. The disc load times on this player are really fast complared to other players. Sony added various apps to the PS3-like menu which is also neat to have. However, once Pandora becomes available, I will like this player even more. Overall, this player produces excellent picture quality and sound from blu-ray discs and DVDs. The features on this player are good and I also like the fact that it does many things besides playing blu-rays and DVDs, which is what attracted me to it. I am very happy with this purchase and highly recommend it.

I selected this box because i own other Sony products. This is my least favorite purchase. Netflix functionality is limited. I was told by the store clerk to bypass this for an Xbox and should have listened. To access movies and tv shows you must first load them into your queue from your computer. This unit can't search the Netflix database. My Wii, on the other hand, has full access to all shows available.. Also, my laptop and the Wii permit constant streaming. The Sony 3-D blu ray is constantly stopping the stream to load and buffer. Imagine being at the climax of a show and the stream stops, multiple times, during the process.. Lastly, the Youtube functionality is useless. You must use an "on-screen" numeric key pad and directional keys to make a selection one letter at a time. You can't modify a search, you must retype it from scratch. It's not worth the effort. A game station would have been a better selection. I expected more from Sony since the products cost more than competitor products.

Comments about Sony DVP-SR200P/B Progressive Scan DVD/CD Player:

This has worked great for me ever since I got it out of the box about 3 years ago. I have watched many movies on DVD & Blue Ray DVDs. I have steamed countless hours "weeks even " of netflix movies over my DSL without any trouble. I'm really glad I bought this, mine was sure no lemon. Thank you SONY.

Another Blu-Ray player bites the dust

      By BevanCox

Comments about Sony DVP-SR200P/B Progressive Scan DVD/CD Player:

This is the second Blu-Ray player that has quit working after about a year. I have honestly only played 5 DVDs in this player because I mainly stream videos; however on the 5th DVD it is making such a loud banging noise that I cannot even play a DVD. My other Sony Blu-Ray player just locked up and won't turn on again...Very disappointing as I have always been a Sony fan...

      Regret this purchase

Comments about Sony DVP-SR200P/B Progressive Scan DVD/CD Player:

We take good care of our electornics so they last quite a while. Our old dvd player went out so we finally upgraded to this BluRay player. We've had it just under a year but it has never been able to play BluRay discs, even brand new ones. Pandora and Netflix are nice to have but most of the other software that comes on the player is junk, it'd be nice to uninstall what is not used.

        Inexpensive and I know why

        By ChiefRaven

Comments about Sony DVP-SR200P/B Progressive Scan DVD/CD Player:

At first glance, this is a tremendous bargain at the price. First impressions are often inaccurate. I looked in the codes section to sync my JVC television with the Sony remote and no codes are listed. After spending over an hour attempting to glean ANY help from the sony website, I threw up my hands in disgust. No live help, no codes and inoperative links on this models page. It sure looks good sitting there but I have no way of changing my TV to Audio/video mode without a code for the remote. I may take this back and buy a cheap Magnavox instead.

Comments about Sony DVP-SR200P/B Progressive Scan DVD/CD Player:

I'm very satisfied with my purchase. Only thing lacking was a good comparison of the possible hook-ups to the HDTV. The next model up, SR500H, had an HDMI connection and I didn't get that one for the extra $10. I'm using the "Component video with analog sound and am happy with it. I'd like to have seen a quantitative comparison of The other connection types but didn't see one. I really don't know which one(s) provide "progressive scanning" and which ones don't???

        Terrible with Netflix

        By notforNetflix

        from cleveland, OH

Comments about Sony DVP-SR200P/B Progressive Scan DVD/CD Player:

We bought it to so that we could have Netflix on our tv without hooking the computer up, we are giving up and disconnecting the SONY, it doesn't work. We get "network error" and "error code 300" all the time (at least twice a week) and Netflix will not start. If Netflix starts, it takes 45 seconds of buffering on the SONY s-570 but only about 5 seconds on our PC. Everytime you fastforward or rewind, it rebuffers and you have to wait (again, not when using my pc).

Horrible player, don't buy, don't buy

            By Ashish

            from Dallas, TX

Comments about Sony DVP-SR200P/B Progressive Scan DVD/CD Player:

This device is a "JOKE" in the name of technology. This is the height of protectionism. I understand that Sony owns movie production business also but that does not mean you try to force which format your electronics component should play. If you try to play any kind of media from your computer using this device then it's a complete nightmare. Sony might as well have taken off the Ethernet port on this device to improve their profit margins on the device. If you just want to play a Blu-ray disc on stream Netflix then may be you can buy this piece of junk. Otherwise I would suggest spend $50 more and buy a comparable Samsung/LG/Panasonic or just any thing but this player.
