Product Details
Sangean RCR22 AM/FM Atomic Clock Radio with LCD Display
This atomic clock radio is the clock that you set once and forget. Featuring a stylish white face, the large bright-blue display with white text provides high contrast. The wide viewing angle makes it easy to read from just about anywhere in your room.

The clock starts by connecting to the atomic clock in Boulder, Colorado, to set the most accurate time keeping technology currently available. Once the signal is found, it synchronizes every hour to ensure that it is the right time, all the time. Once the clock is set, you can program the dual alarms to wake to your favorite AM or FM station or take advantage of the Humane Waking System that begins with a low volume beep and gradually increases in intensity to slowly wake you instead of receiving a firm jolt that others provide.

With its intuitive design, you have the ability to select the days of the week you wish the alarms to wake you, meaning you never need to worry about being woken up on the weekends, or forgetting to turn the alarm on during the week. Once you set it, you can forget it.

Comments about Sangean RCR22 AM/FM Atomic Clock Radio with LCD Display:

You can't go wrong with Sangean. They hit a home run with this one. I have struggled with portables that doubled as bedside alarm clock radios for years, using a couple good shortwave and MW (AM) DXers that did fine but were not intended to be clock radios, and though they did the job, they could have done it better. I debated between the Sangean PR-D5 and this one, both of which get excellent reviews, and went with this, since it designed to be a clock radio and that's what I was shopping for.

          The Great:
          * Volume is easy to access, rubberized, solid, smooth, adjustable in very small increments. If you have a partner, you know how important this is, and how few radios get the adjustment just right.
          * Blue backlight is adjustable from very bright (out of the box) down to almost off, via a thumbscrew on bottom. I have mine set to nearly off, so at night it offers a dim glow, but is still easy to read; any button touch puts the brightness back to full strength for a few seconds.
          * Dual alarms, configurable by time and day of the week.

          The Good:
          * MW sensitivity and selectivity is good; it won't rival a $200 DXer, but it's not meant to, it does very well for the cost. I haven't put it through its paces in side-by-side comparisons, but it's a MW improvement over the Grundig G8, which boasts a DSP chip (that doesn't do much for MW anyway).
          * Takes a while to acquire the satellite; I set the time manually and overnight the atomic clock was able to synchronize (this happened a few times, so must be something about where I live and the position of the satellite).

          The Could Be Better:
          * Okay, so dual alarms are great, but only 2? My Sangean 909 has 3, and I thought that wasn't enough.
          * The alarm/time set button on the left and the band select button on the right are easy to mistake for station preset buttons.

Still the best "clock radio" for my money, though I'd like to compare it with the PR-D5 someday.

Atomic clock module could be better designed, I have an RCR-3 and the module is built-in.

Comments about Sangean RCR22 AM/FM Atomic Clock Radio with LCD Display:

My daughter wanted a plug in Atomic Clock. Not an easy thing to find but fortunately I found this one. It is a great looking design, easy to set up and use and works like a top! I read reviews from others that indicated that it might be difficult to set up but I strongly disagree. I pulled it out of the box and without even reading the instructions was able to intuitivly get almost every feature set up. I did eventually read the instructions to learn about some of the finer details and features. GREAT CLOCK RADIO! [...]

Comments about Sangean RCR22 AM/FM Atomic Clock Radio with LCD Display:

Love the atomic clock, but it surprised me that it takes several hours to set itself. The booklet doesn't tell you that, or much else for that matter. I'm still trying to master setting the alarm times. But overall, I love this radio.
