Comments about Sangean ATS505P 16-Band Digital AM/FM Stereo Shortwave Receiver:

The Sangean 505 isn't the 909, but it's an acceptable budget-conscious alternative. sells the 909 as well (read my review there, can't link to it, Power Reviews won't let me), and if you're looking for a good entry level short wave radio, either one would be an excellent choice. I moved up the 909 after damaging the 505 (only a radio lover will understand the pain of damaging your own radio!). I'm giving the 505 4 stars because, well, it's not the 909. I have been a AM DX-er for years and recently a SWL. The 505 is a good radio, but the 909 is Sangean's flagship and deserves its reputation. I've heard rumors of a Sangean PR-D9, and a successor to the ATS 909 as well.
