      First let me say, I'm a veterinarian so I see pet carriers come and go everyday. This is one of the best I've seen and certainly the best I've owned. It is extremely well thought out in its design and seems comfortable for my dog. It's not listed as a feature but unzipped all the way it collapses down for easy storage/transport.
      Just check some airlines' measurement requirements for in-cabin transport. The large one (the one I have) seems too tall to be approved but I haven't done the actual research and each airline is different.
      The only change I would propose is to make the top panel roll back instead of flip up as it is awkward in pet carrier mode if you want to leave the top up for the dog to to be able to sit up in the carrier.
      Overall, an awesome carrier at a better price than others that are less thought out.

      Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

      The fleece pad is very soft for my cat. She loves laying in it. The base is very sturdy. Really like the size. There's room for her to grow but it's not bulky to handle and move around.
