The Pentax original Shake Reduction (SR) technology in the A30 has been improved by adding both Digital and Movie SR for improved image capture in low-light settings and telephoto capture. A unique Face Recognition AF and AE function offers better results in photographs by automatically detecting faces, and then adjusting exposure and focus to properly capture portraits. No more trying to figure out what the heck you took a picture of or who's head is that that got cut off!

As a DivX-certified digital camera, the Optio A30 also makes it easy for you to create your own media for both business and social purposes.     Very difficult to focus on close up objects. The auto focus wants to focus on background images rather than the subject. Even manual focus alters the image and zooms out when you snap the picture. The installation cd was blank[...]

    For [$], it is not a bad camera. I have a hard time believing the regular price is nearly $300. The features are ok, the image quality is ok, the battery life is not that great. The big disappointment is that the battery must be removed for charging.

    I took the A10 to Europe a few years ago and was thrilled..... I took several hundred photos and videos. I didn't nned to have a special charger as the Pentax accommodates European current. I would charge over night and I took it every where I would go. It's compact size allowed me to put in my pocket; I did have an extra battery just in case.
    The only thing I didn't like was when the lens is open ..."DON'T drop it........ My family has had several Pentax and ALL of them had the same fate.
    I have several cameras but love the Pentax the best. Would recommend highly for general purpose use.
    So when I saw the A 30 I had to get it. The price was incredible!!!!!. Saw the same camera online for much more.
