The remarkably versatile LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens system comes equipped with a 24mm ultra wide angle lens and powerful 16x optical zoom (35mm camera equivalent: 24-384mm). The lens unit comprises 12 elements in 10 groups, including an ED lens and 3 aspherical lenses with 6 aspherical surfaces.

It effectively suppresses chromatic aberration, which tends to occur in telephoto shooting, and boasts a short total length of lens unit. The lens system is compatible with high shutter speed of min. 1/4,000 sec. The DMC-ZS8's expansive feature set also includes intelligent ISO control, easy zoom, optical image stabilization, HD movie recording, and more.
