      A gift for my 6 year old nephew. I had mine popping corn when he came to visit. I went online next day and got him and also a box of real movie popcorn boxes to serve it in. Love it all.

          I bought this popcorn popper BEFORE I read the MANY negative reviews on another website. However, it's been a great little popper! I wanted the cute style to try to get my teenager to fix a healthier snack than some of the microwavable options. It worked. She likes the popcorn, and I like the fact that she's getting popcorn, butter & salt without all the preservatives used in the microwavable packages.

          The two biggest criticisms I read were that the popcorn flies all over the room. It does come out forcefully...so I always use a MUCH larger bowl to catch the popcorn. As to unpopped kernals---that's always been an issue with hotair popcorn poppers since they first came out...back in the 70s, I think. Unpopped kernels are just part of life---even with microwavable popcorn.

          I also like that it doesn't really pop a large portion---just right for one hungry person. By the time you've finished the bowl, your brain says, "that'll probably do you till dinner", and you don't pop a second batch. One batch also serves two older people who don't eat a lot--just get the late-night munchies sometimes.

          Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
