this was great for blocking off the space between our living room and Kitchen (really wide space). After screwing hooks into both walls the gate hooks into those for a very sturdy wall to separate the two spaces. As long as you have the wall hooks in a stud, i would even feel comfortable with my child pulling up on it (unlike the gates that are just pressed between two walls). We bought this to keep our dogs (two mastiffs) blocked off in the kitchen during the day (but I have a 5 year old and 6 year old and wished i had discovered this when they were in the toddler stage). The only thing I don't like is the fact that it doesn't fold up in a compact way. You can leave it hooked in on one side so it swings like a door when you don't want it in use, but it is still really wide even when it is "folded up". I gave it 4 stars because i wish it could get a little more compact when it is not in use- other than that perfect.

This gate made the perfect room divider it works great at keeping the baby in the living room and/or the dogs seperate from the baby. It's easy to open and close. The spacing on the bars is small enough that I feel comfortable with safety.
