I bought this coffee maker to replace my last Mr. Coffee which lasted for over five years. I haven't been overly impressed with this one. It looks nice, has the water filter (optional to use), and has two settings for regular and strong brew.

The primary features I was looking for were a timer, nice aesthetics, great tasting coffee, and the ability to remove the carafe during brewing without coffee continuing to spill everywhere. It obviously has a timer and looks nice.

But the first 15 or so pots of coffee I brewed had a strong plastic taste to them. There are instructions for washing before using, and I followed them, but it didn't help. Once you get past that phase, the coffee tastes great.

Second, the mechanism that allows you to remove the carafe during brewing without coffee continuing to drip out simply doesn't work. This feature on my previous coffee makers was poor, and this one is even worse.

If given a second chance, I would buy another one.

The backlit clock is like the bat signal in intensity; it's practically a nightlight. Three loud beeps come from the maker when it completes a brew cycle. At 4am, my family doesn't appreciate this. I'm thinking about cracking it open and disconnecting the speaker. The use of the filter discs is optional. We have reverse osmosis water so they are useless to us.

It was a good coffee maker. Then it just wouldn't work very well. The water evaporated before the brew cycle was done. I only had it a month. I can't return it to the store, and I haven't heard from Mr. Coffee.
