Midland WR-300 and HH-50 All-Weather Alert Radios
Stay alert to conditions that affect you with Midland's WR-300 and HH-50 weather radios. The WR-300 offers S.A.M.E. technology (Specific Area Message Encoding), which preprograms the device to receive only those warnings that apply to your local area - you can choose state, county, and/or nearby counties. The single-speaker radio offers 30 programmable county codes, AM/FM tuning, date, time, alarm functions, and even auto switch from AM/FM to pertinent all-hazard alerts.
You also get the HH-50. With it, you can now receive 24-hour-a-day National Weather Bureau Broadcasts no matter where you are. This handheld, portable unit has an ALERT system that turns the unit on when a dangerous weather or civil emergency arises. Features include a weather test button to ensure the weather alert feature on the radio is functioning properly, auto scan to find an available weather channel, and 6" telescoping antenna for clear reception no matter where you are. Comments about Midland WR-300 and HH-50 All-Weather Alert Radios:

We purchased this after devastating tornadoes in our area. We should have purchased this sooner. The unit does what it says it does. Getting the S.A.M.E. codes are easy, however, if you are like me and not quite paying enough attention, you may accidentally put in the wrong code! The web site IS a little confusing.
I also had to e-mail the company to see why the "TORNADO WARNING" was not in the "disable alarm/activate alarm" section. I wanted to make sure it WAS activated. According to them, it's always enabled and not able to be deactivated.
Handheld unit is handy, especially if you need to head to the basement and (obviously) can't grab the main unit.

Comments about Midland WR-300 and HH-50 All-Weather Alert Radios:

The clock radio is the greatest and can be programmed for your area/county. The hand held is a nice addition, however, you cannot program the hand held for your local area.
