EPA and DHA are essential fatty acids that help maintain membrane fluidity. DHA is a major structural component of the retina and is important for healthy eye function.

Lutein and Zeaxanthin are natural carotenoids that have been shown to be concentrated in the macula and lens of the eye. In order to be present in the human body, these carotenoids must be consumed from food or dietary supplements. Lutein and Zeaxanthin may provide protective benefits through their distinct mechanisms of action in the eye. By combining these key nutrients, this formula provides support for healthy eyes and vision.

AREDS2 is a multi-center, ongoing study conducted through the National Eye Institute (NEI) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Building upon results from the original AREDS study, AREDS2 is evaluating additional formula combinations.
