Great composter in many ways

Comments about Lifetime 80-Gallon Tumbling Composter:

We have a good sized yard with lots of fruit trees and a small grass yard and modest kitchen waste. All goes into this large composter. We've had it a couple years (got it at [@]) and have been looking for another. It works great, turns great, has huge capacity, and has been very durable. The large opening is great for transferring wheel barrow amounts of material into or out of it. My other square standing ones have both deteriorated while this one looks new and does a much better job. Kitchen scraps alone will probably not be enough volume for this big boy.

Avoid purchasing

By Gardener

Comments about Lifetime 80-Gallon Tumbling Composter:

I just purchased a Lifetime 80 gallon compost tumbler #60058. Very unhappy with this purchase for the following reasons: Broken fastener packages within a cheap cardboard container, with many fasteners missing. Assembly instructions misleading and frankly inaccurate in their diagrams. All metal fasteners are just flash cadmium plated. My experience is that these will rust within a year of outdoor exposure. My analysis: This is a cheaply made [*] product pandering to people interested in backyard gardening. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

Comments about Lifetime 80-Gallon Tumbling Composter:

I bought this tumbler several years ago and can produce a batch of compost almost every two weeks. This tumbler like all others will need to have moisture added to it on a regular basis to keep it going. I shred most materials before adding them and throw in a bunch of coffee grounds to get it going. In about three days it heats up to compost temperatures and I turn it at least once a day.
Just wish I could find enough materials to keep it full all the time...

Comments about Lifetime 80-Gallon Tumbling Composter:

Well I read reviews prior to purchasing and was concerned about the difficulty level of assembly. The instructions clearly say TWO people to do the job and 2.5 hour to complete. I agree with this completely, but I did the assembly myself in 2 hours with occasional help from my wife or teenager during tricky parts.
The drilling of holes is rather silly since there is no reason it could not be done during the manufacturing process but it is not difficult.
