Pros: Starts easily, double line head, no smoke, not especially loud since the engine is close to my ear, that's a good thing. Line releases when I want it requiring only one or two bumps. About the same weight as my other trimmer that I'll be selling, nice strap and excellent hand grips. Good power and rapid acceleration. I can bring it in the house or car, not running of course, without it stinking up the joint.
Cons; Not very well balanced, I have the strap attach point as close to the engine as it will go and it still requires quite a bit of pressure to hold the head down and that makes it more difficult to guide and make straight cuts. I might add some weight onto the shaft just above the shield to make it balance better. Tiring to use for me at least because of the need to hold up on the handle while operating the throttle and down at the other grip no matter how much I adjust the strap length. Fortunatly I'm done in less than a half hour so its not too bad. Also the hose to hook up the propane bottle is a little short on my example, I had to slide the bottle in part way, attach the connector and then slide the bottle in and clamp it. The bottle still won't go all the way in the holder without putting a strain on the hose but the clamp holds it securely so that really isn't a problem.
Conclusion: For me the 4 stroke engine fueled by propane makes this a winner no matter the cost of the fuel or the physical adjustments necessary to use it, my old trimmer required me to adjust to its quirks as well. There's always the possibilty of refilling the bottle bringing the cost down but I can get a 3 pack of bottles for less than 2 GW's/bottle so that's not cost effective versus the risk for me. I haven't used the trimmer enough to find out how long a bottle lasts but 2 hours is claimed, 2 hours for less than 2 dollars is pretty good.

[...]Product is junk. The trimmer is VERY difficult to start. Very difficult to operate. Runs poorly. Very heavy. Very under powered and often dies when trimming 2 inches of grass. The trimmer line does not auto feed as advertised. The propane cylinder does not lock into place as the clamp is too small to fit the 16.4 oz cylinder. The carburator or regulator easily fills with oil from the crankcase if the unit is tipped ever so slightly from level. Maintaining a trimmer perfectly level 100% of the time is impossible. When the carburator or regulator fills with oil, the unit doesn't run well. This requires the carburator or regulator to be cleaned which requires disassembly. Not a chore for the lay-man I assure you. I bought the trimmer and have used it less than 1 hour before I needed to return it to the manufacturer for a major over-haul. I do not recommend this product. This technology has not been perfected and has many flaws to be worked out in my opinion. Get a battery operated trimmer or electric if you are looking for a trimmer that is not gas powered.

    Works better than expected, but it is a little heavy. The higher weight was not unexpected as it is a 4-cycle engine, but I am very satisfied with the ease in starting and consistent running and good power.

    This trimmer is heavier than the Homelite it replaced, however the ease with which it starts (usually second pull when cold) and the lack of the need to winterize the fuel system make the added weight less to bear. The green aspect of this product is a impressive "fringe" benefit.

      This use primarily for lawn maintenance. It has a decent torque and quite as compared to regular gas trimmer. No foul gas odor. A green lawn equipment

      I have used this unit about 5 times. I use it to trim my 1/3rd acre lawn and edging along the sidewalk. It starts right up and has plenty of power. A little quieter than a 2 stroke unit. As others has mentioned, it does get a little heavy after a 1/2 hour or so. I would purchase this unit again.

        After years and several other type trimmers, ie. electric, cordless, 2 cycle and 4 cycle, this LEHR propane trimmer is the best trimmer I've ever owned.No mesing with liquid fuel mixing, fuel that has turned, draining for off season storage, and multiple pulls to get it started like in the past with the others. Attach the bottle and 1 or 2 pulls, you're good to go!Although not a con for me @ 6'3" 215#, the added pound or so in extra weight over other trimmers may be a con for people of smaller stature. There is a shoulder strap included that if adjusted properly, provides enough balance to offset that extra weight though.And last but not least, Meijer's provided a pleasant shopping experience in [...] price [...]

        The unit had a broken carburator (sp) but it was replaced [...] and the new unit works great. A little heavy but very quiet. A good design and I did not know that all of the Ryobi accessories work on the drive train, this will be a positive.
