Nice System

Comments about HP Pavilion Elite HPE-500f 1.5TB Hard Drive Desktop PC - Black:

This system is very nice. My old computer crashed and I had to get a new one right away. This was by far the best system I could find at any retail outlet. AMD processors are a great bargain right now. They may not perform quite as well as the high end Intel procs, but they give you the most bang for your buck. I'm a web designer and use the HPE-500f for some processor intense applications like Photoshop and Dreamweaver. The Phenom II processor seems to handle everything with relative ease. It's got a huge 1.5 terabytes of storage and the 8GB of RAM keeps everything running smoothly. The Radeon video card so far is working just fine. I'm not much of a gamer so I can't really tell you how it will perform there. My only problem with this system is that HP, like so many other manufacturers, puts a very cheap 300 watt power supply in the case. Seriously, I would have gladly paid another $50 to get a 450 or 500 watt supply. In the coming months I'm going to have to upgrade it. For the non-technical person, a weak power supply means that you really have to be careful about adding any new parts internally - especially hard drives. The computer may run fine out of the box, but it's simply not going to have enough juice to spin more than one drive. But, as I said, HP isn't the only brand to do this. Most consumers probably wouldn't notice but it is something to consider if you want to run more than one internal drive, or upgrade to a really high end video card. Otherwise, I'm very happy with the performance.
