Comments about Home Styles Jamaican Bay Corner Entertainment Center - Soft Mahogany:

Found this at another website for much less but refused to shop there due to complaints. Bought from Meijer for better reliability.

Unit arrived with minor scrapes on boxes but no major damage to perimeter of boxes or the styrofoam inside. Upon opening first box, hardware was rolling around. The back of the hardware pack had been split open and taped shut either at the factory or the warehouse. Stopped assembly and asked for another hardware kit to be sent.

Kit arrives and I began to assemble to find that 4 pieces had major gouges in them - 1/4 inch deep. Again, no damage to packaging so this was either in the factory or re-packaged in a warehouse. Call for replacement parts and told only a total of 4 can be sent so with the hardware package already replaced, they'd only send 3 pieces. Wife discusses with Meijer and they vow to take care of it.

Replacement pieces arrive and there are only 3 of the 4 needed. Wife calls and is told they "can only send 3" and they ask her to tell them which pieces THEY SENT?

Since I didn't know if we'd ever see the 4th piece I tried to assemble the rest of the unit since it's down to one end panel, the top, and the two doors. The first cam-lock I turn down on the top pops out the veneer on the FRONT of the unit.

I will point out that Meijer does not manufacture this unit nor does it appear to sell it in it's stores, but does sell it through their web site. I'm hopeful they will re-think their stance because this thing is junk. The manufacturer obviously considers how many complaints and the cost of replacing parts (since they will only replace 4 total) in their sales price. Between my wife's time on the phone and my time starting, stopping, disassembling and reassembling the unit, we probably have 15 hours into this. Over 3 weeks later, our living room is still in pieces.
