Have this unit in my bedroom and it does a good job cooling the room. The air vents are located at top of unit, so airflow direction goes up which I thought was kind of strange, but overall it works fine. Can be kind of noisy at times, especially because window is right next to my bed so I have to turn tv volume quite loud, but nice for sleeping on a hot night!

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
