GunVault Biometric 500 Gun Safe
The GunVault Biometric Gun Safe's unique notebook-style design allows you to take your handgun or valuables with you. The portable gun safe is incredibly compact and lightweight, this safe fits inside a briefcase or daypack and can be quickly accessed with GunVault's biometric technology.

The biometric safe model reads your fingerprint. The fingerprint gun safe can have up to 30 prints to be allowed access. It also features a low battery warning; tamper proof, foam lined, and heavy 16 gauge steel.

The safe was nice, but I had to send back for a refund as it smelled. It smelled like moth balls! I aired it out for several days but did no good. I wanted this safe next to my bed and no way would I have that smell in my house. Meijers was great at taking it back. I will order another one, and hopefully it won't smell. These things are made in China and you never know what chemicals they are putting in the products we buy.

First let me say I'm happy with this purchase: the price was right, it mounted on my bedside as I wanted, it securely holds my hand gun and the Bio Unlocking mechanism works without fail. Also, there was a slight rubber smell, but nothing as offensive as some reviewers describe... Now, the down side, it DOES NOT open with a combination by pressing the "no-eyes" buttons, even though the buttons ARE on the unit. Also, you CAN NOT mute the beep when the safe opens.

This is a really great product for my uses. Having two young kids at home, and the occasional neighbor kids who come over to play with them, this keeps my firearm secure if it is not on me. My wife and I are administrators, and I stored several more of my prints just to be safe. It has opened the first time, every time I have used it. I am very confident that this safe will work, and I trust my children's safety to it. I have tried to get it to give a false positive and open, but it doesn't budge. Great safe!

I already had 3 regular MicroVaults MV500.
The Biometric version is the same physically with the addition of the Bio fingerprint sensor. It was easy to program and seems to work every time if you take your time sliding your finger and press securely. By taking your time I mean a couple seconds. Pressing firmly is key too. A couple times I had to run my finger twice because of how firmly and evenly I swiped.

The only disappointment was there was no secondary entry method such as button pressing. The photo shows the buttons but they are merely to fill the holes since this box is really exactly the same as the standard MicroVault.
