    We bought this unit to take to an old friend who lives in Italy. I made a waypoint for his home address before we left. He picked us up at the airport and soon was slightly lost in an area of narrow, winding streets. I'd turned on the Garmin right away giving it time to acquire satellites. After ignoring the directions a few times, he began following them and quickly got us out of the maze and onto the Autostrada.

    This unit not only has detailed maps for both continents but also can quickly be set to speak directions in many languages.

    GPS buyers should know that the time to acquire satellites and show the present location has a lot to do with how far away from the location the unit was when last turned off.

    Also they should understand that map data errors are inevitable but can be corrected if they take the time to report them. I reported one and found it fixed on the next map edition.

                I use the Bluetooth feature a lot when visiting my people to call them ahead of time.

                I can add locations via their GPS coordinates that are not shown as roads.

                The GPS is small enough to place in your pocket and yet large enough to read with ease.

                    Pros: Incredibly helpful to get around to places. A great tool to find lunchCons: None reallyOther Thoughts: For those discussing buying an already outdated unit, if you register the unit and the software is already three months old, they automatically give you a free update, it just has to be registered ( REALLY easy to do). As for the update price, the [$] is for LIFETIME update four times a year. Thats pretty freaking reasonable. It used to cost [$] a year, once a year and i always just looked at it as a subscription service at [$]/month but with the lifetime deal, it works out WAY better
