Fisher Price Computer Cool School
This kid-safe, kid-friendly laptop builds confidence in young ones by teaching important school skills. It plugs into your computer via an easy-to-use keyboard (QWERTY) to provide learning fun throughout 5 learning centers and 1 field trip activity. The centers are: reading, writing, math, art, music, and science. Activities in each center can be accessed by the simple push of a button. Children can also print out reward certificates and supplemental worksheet-type activities for further encouragement. Plus, parental controls keep kids away from Mom and Dad's desktop, prohibit Internet access, and limit the number of prints your child can create. Kids learn computer skills, reading comprehension, phonics, vocabulary/spelling, writing, numbers and counting, addition, matching, animal facts, problem solving, creative expression, art, music, and much more.

I have daughter who is nearly three and she loves her computer school. I've bought all the software titles for her except the "Sesame Street" because it's impossible to find. It's amazing how fast she has learned to use the pen mouse and the keyboard commands. The game takes up the whole screen and you can't accidentally exit the game without typing in a password. What I've done is to use her name as a password so that she can exit by typing out her name. After about a week she learned how to type her name to stop the game when she is done! My one annoyance with the product, and for me it's a big one, is that it is only for right handed children. My daughter is obviously left-handed and this has forced her into being a right-hander. I would have preferred something that can be used by either hand, that way the choice is more natural. Aside from that, I highly recommend this product.

This would get 5 stars except for the fact that if you didnt buy all the software titles (Clifford, Scooby Doo, Dora etc) back when you bought the computer, you will never get them unless you have a ton of money to blow. My son got this Christmas of 2009 and as soon as late 2010 I couldnt find software. Looks like FP still has a Cool School website set up with information about the system and software (that they claim retails at $17), but software cds are nowhere to be found except for prices more than the system ($40-$100) which is ridiculous bc the computer system sells for $45. Its a shame b/c my son really loves it and we ended up with only the Dora software. He really wants Clifford.

I really love computer school. My special needs daughter enjoys playing with it. She's had it for since it first came on the shelves in stores. Recently, I got her a new compuer. I have misplaced the original disc that came with it. However, I have all of the other games. I hate that there is no way to download the software that makES ALL OF THE GAMES WORK. You shouldn't have to basically go and buy a whole new computer school in order to get the software CD that makes ALL of the games work.

Cool School Problem

We love computer school and it was awesome for my daughter. Now my son is at the age to use it, we are having problems. We notice on our CD's it's for use with windows XP and Vista. We upgraded to windows 7 a while ago and it's seems to be shutting my computer down! FP customer services can you give some answers???? Thanks. My son would love to use it, without breaking down my computer.

2012 Still a great purchase

I understand the frustration parents are having with this product and finding the software. However, my advice is not to give up on this product. We have had ours for three years and my 6 year old still loves it. I found most of the software at local stores on clearance. I know they are hard to find but if you can check internet sites etc. it shouldn't be that expensive for a used cd. There is so much to learn with this system. I am sorry Fisher Price isn't producing it anymore. This is a great product and a fantastic learning tool. Be resourceful and you should be able to find the software.

bad purchase

cartridge cost more than the computer itself. Hard to find anywhere on- line , local stores. When I do fine them they are so over priced. If I had known ahead I never would have purchased this. It is sad though because my grandson loves this computer. If not for this problem I would recommend it.

The product is actually great... except that new software titles are extremely difficult to find. It seems that they are not producing or selling any more titles, even though the device (i.e. keyboard unit) is still for sale. It makes me doubt whether they will provide updates for new operating systems, etc. For this reason I can only give it 1 star.

This is a GREAT toy my son had gotten this a little over a year ago and has only played it about 3 times cause we have been constantly moving. But finally settled into a place, he asked to play it. I cannot find the software for it ANYWHERE. I have tried to see if there were any downloads on the interet but cant seem to come across any. So I was wondering if you offer free replacements or would I have to pay for one??

I'm dissapointed that you can't find any games anywhere, however stores are still selling the computer. I really can't believe it because if these games aren't going to be made available the computer should be taken off the shelves. This computer is better than any of the hand held new devices out there for children. It at least gives them options and they learn so much while having fun. Everything else is like your just playing a hand held game. Stop with the hand held games. Everything is getting away from teaching and just going to games. They really have a true winner here. My daughter loves this and so do we. PLLLLLEEEAAASSSE start making the games again. My child see's them on the computer but doesn't understand why she can't play them. I have been searching for a long time everwhere unless you pay more than what you should.

My daughter was so excited to get this as a gift for christmas...in 2009. We have never been able to use it because it doesn't work with a Mac. With no way to return it and no way to use it she gets to look at it sitting in the box wishing she could... I never expected Fisher Price to be so behind in the times...many people use Mac-
