As a single dad with three hungry kids, I love the convenience of the slow cooker. My mom used to make crock pot meals when I was growing up that I remembered fondly, so I decided to give it a try. It's simple and easy - most of the recipes I find online are 8 or less ingredients (in the last week I made an awesome cabbage, veggie and ground beef soup and chicken with dumplings). Before Thanksgiving I made a meatloaf that was fantastic. I just buy whatever meat and veggies are on sale and throw them in with a bouillon cube or two or cream of mushroom or celery soup, water, some salt and pepper and 8 hours later the house smells like heaven and the grateful children aren't (but should be) loading the dishwasher. This year I'm going to go with a bigger one for Christmas, as the leftovers are highly sought after and go quickly - this size is best for four or less people for about 6 generous portions.
