Dyson DC41 Animal Upright Vacuum - CLOSEOUT
The Dyson DC41 Animal is an upright vacuum cleaner designed to help remove more dirt, dust, allergens and pet hair from the home. It features Radial Root Cyclone technology, in which airflows have been remodeled to maximize suction power. The cleaner head on the DC41 Animal self-adjusts to different floor types, so there are no knobs or dials to adjust.

It has an active base plate, which creates optimal cleaner head contact, reducing air leaks and retaining more suction power. This technology gives DC41 Animal the strongest suction at the cleaner head. DC41 also features Dyson Ball technology making it easier to steer closer to edges, and into hard to reach places.

Included is the mini turbine head, to clean pet hair and dirt from tight and hard to reach places such as upholstery or in the car. The instant release wand stretches up to 5 times in length for stairs and high reach cleaning, and the clear bin empties at the push of a button. DC41 Animal has a lifetime washable filter, and there are no bags, belts or filters to buy. It features Dyson cyclones, which capture more dirt.

This is truly the best Dyson vacuum ever made. It's light, every maneuverable, has powerful suction, and it's very easy to use. In comparison to the DC25 Ball, the DC41 is far better engineered, and is better than its predecessor in every way imaginable. For starters, the DC41 has a much larger clear bin, and longer cord than the DC25 (the two most common grievances about that machine. With a cord that's 10 feet longer, and with nearly double the debris capacity, you will reach farther distances with less emptying. The little details on the DC41 should give everyone that uses it that the engineers put a lot of thought into designing the DC41 to make it more of a be-all, end-all flagship vacuum cleaner rather than just another niche vacuum with a specialty gimmick. The "Active base plate" ensures constant close contact with the floor surface for stronger pick-up. The brush roll has two distinct rows of bristles: one row of short bristles and one row of tall bristles -- this combination provides optimum agitation on both short and high pile carpeting. I was amazed at how well this machine deep cleaned considering it's rather small diameter brush roll. Cat hair, fluff, sand, and dust were pulled from my carpet every time I vacuumed. The DC41 Animal definitely cleaned my carpets better than my DC25, that's for sure! The "Radial Root Cyclone" system focuses air flow through the center of the cyclone assembly which promotes better cyclonic filtration since each of the 12 cyclones on the top of the bin receive equal air flow. Another design feature that I found rather thoughtful was the use of rounded airways to promote smoother and more efficient airflow. I recall seeing the DC07 with this same feature, but for one reason or another, Dyson lost focus on this feature on more recent models. I'm glad they brought it back on the DC41. Anyone with a keen eye will notice that the perforated shroud inside the clear bin has been replaced by a finer screen filter. This is to greatly reduce the likelihood of fine dust buildup, as well as promote greater airflow intake. The redesigned ball makes for a rather clean looking appearance since all of the ducting that would normally wrap around the ball have now been integrated inside of it. Since the wrap around ducting are no longer present, the DC41 has a much improved turning radius in comparison to its DC25 predecessor. Other improvements I've noticed include the larger dusting brush with softer bristles, the handle that is now fixed to the machine (makes for better upright rigidity), and I really like how the HEPA exhaust filter securely screws onto the ball rather than snapping into place -- having owned the DC25, I never liked how the exhaust filter felt loose and unsecured, even when snapped into place. Exhaust air would normally leak through the rubber gasket of the HEPA filter, and generate a lot of squealing and whistling. I will never have that problem with the DC41 thanks to its more proper design. Overall, this is a fantastic vacuum cleaner. Dyson definitely went all out in designing this machine. As having owned every generating of "The Ball" (DC15, DC25, and now DC41), I can say the DC41 is the best by far -- I loved my DC15, was disappointed by the DC25, but the DC41 is a quantum leap ahead of every Dyson in the lineup.

The Good: The vacuum has excellent suction. I have two dogs and two long haired cats and it is able to pull the hair easily from the carpet. I like the smaller size when compared to my Dyson DC7. I like that the head of the vacuum is clear so I'm able to quickly identify if it needs to be cleaned. I also like how easy it is to access the brush in the suction head of the vacuum compared to my DC7. The vacuum is easy to maneuver. The Bad or what needs to be improved: I think Dyson over engineered the head of the vacuum for maximum suction. I have 3 kids under the age of 7 and they will spill popped popcorn and popcorn kernels in to the carpet. I will manually pick up the large popped popcorn and use the vacuum for the kernels and broken off bits. The vacuum does not pick up these kernels easily. I make multiple passes from different angles and it will still leave kernels. My DC7 even at 5 years old could pick up the kernels better than the DC41. If an item larger than dust is sitting on the surface of the carpet, the vacuum tends to just push it around instead of sucking the item up. I like the idea of the ball when vacuuming. I dislike the rear travel wheels when trying to move the vacuum prior to or after vacuuming. The Vacuum will "break down" in to the vacuum position where it's resting on the ball. I want to be able to move the vacuum using the rear two wheels like I was able on my DC7. It's frustrating when I push the vacuum forward and the rear two wheels will not stay engaged. It needs a lock or something to keep it in the travel position. Overall the vacuum has been working well sucking up pet hair and dust/dirt out of my carpet - much better than my DC7. The vacuum is a fail at picking up anything large especially if it's sitting on the surface of the carpet. I'd like to see a travel lock or something so I can move the vacuum on the rear two wheels instead of pushing it around in the ball position.

Love my Dyson DC41 Animal

Comments about Dyson DC41 Animal Upright Vacuum:

It really sucks!! LOL I got my Dyson DC41 two months ago and I simply love it. I have two puppies who love to play in the dirt and my new vacuum picks up even the finest of dust. It also sucks dog hair like crazy. My floors have never been cleaner. I can vacuum, then mop, with no lingering dog hair. I would recommend this vacuum to anyone with animals.

Worth every penny...

Comments about Dyson DC41 Animal Upright Vacuum:

I was skeptical about it being worth the money but I am here to tell you that I am a changed man. We have two golden retrievers and two young children and needless to say, our house gets dirty... fast. When our old vacuum broke I went and reviewed vacuums online and while I found information stating that lesser vacuum very similar to what I had that just broke would do as good of a job as the Dyson...my wife still pushed for the Dyson and I gave in. With two kids and a chaotic life it's often me that ends up using it and I can tell you even though our previous vacuum was highly rated, the Dyson is a superior machine. After the first pass through our house I made the comment to my wife that the canister was too small. Like other reviewers what I found is that it was picking up years of dirt left behind by the old vacuum. Subsequent cleanings definitely had less dirt in the canister. I was also skeptical about the ball but after use love it. It's much easier to maneuver around things. Best of all our home just feels "cleaner." For those thinking about this vacuum, I remind you that in the beginning that I as the one saying no but now would never trade it for another... well, maybe another Dyson.

Best Vacuum I have ever Owned

Comments about Dyson DC41 Animal Upright Vacuum:

This was well worth the money. After I brought it home and put it together I then used my old vacuum and did the living room. I then went over the living room carpet with the animal and the canister was almost half full with dust and other particles. It amazed me how much my old vacuum missed and how well the Dyson worked. Will and would recommend it to anyone looking for a new vacuum. Thanks Dyson!

This is the best vacuum!

Comments about Dyson DC41 Animal Upright Vacuum:

I wanted this vacuum for awhile. Obviously the price is what kept me from purchasing this years ago. My husband surprised me with the DC 41 animal after yet another vacuum broke. I've been through 4 vacuums in the last 8 years. Rediculous! My last one said it was specifically for animal hair. Apparently they meant non shedding pets. I have 2 dogs, a puppy (chewed up things all over, all the time) and a Siberian husky. Shedding is a nightmare! Not to mention my toddler dropping food for a living. The DC 41 can handle everything!! For once in my life I'm excited to vacuum! My dog's shedding hair doesn't clog this vacuum! No more sticking hangers through the vacuum! I've had the Dyson for about 4 months now. It's so easy to maneuver around furniture, easy to empty the canister and it's so lightweight! My toddler pushes it around and vacuums! I'll never buy another brand!

Not as good as the DC 14/DC25

Comments about Dyson DC41 Animal Upright Vacuum:

Have owned the vaccum for 6 months, moved it upstairs where there is nothing but carpeting. Machine does not clean hard wood floors effectively, leaves dirt between tile and not very effective on cleaning the edges of area rugs. The issues is if the floors are uneven, or there is a ledge, or you go from a area rug to the hard wood, dirt is left behind. The hand tools are not designed to work effectively and leave behind, dust, dog hair, cat hair but do a great job of collecting the dog hair on the out side of the tool. We purchased this machine because our Original Animal finaly died after 8 years of continuous use. Based on the reviews sounded like a solid buy, but....it does not live up to the hipe unless this is a defective unit. And now the sytem is broke, a little wheel on the brush head fell out and it does not clean. And with the other vacuum we had, never cleaned the filters, so why do I have to continously clean these. Missed the old one, house was clean, dog hair was gone and now have to find another vacuum to fill the void on the main living areas...

Disappointed

By Anonymous

Comments about Dyson DC41 Animal Upright Vacuum:

I bought a Dyson DC41 Animal couple of months ago. For the HUGE amount of money that this vacuum costs, I was and am VERY disappointed in its performance. I have owned canisters, uprights and bagless vacuums. This vacuum does outperform most but is not worth the cost. The engineers who design these machines should watch people in their homes use them. For instance, why would someone design this vacuum’s beater brush to turn off just because you bring it to a more upright position?! And about that beater brush... it needs TWICE the bristles that it has to get up dog hair. I have 2 large dogs that shed and I have to go over and over and over and over the carpet to get the hair up. Then the hair wraps around the bar. Same goes for the upholstery attachment. The canister that holds the dirt and hair is not nearly large enough and I don’t like that I have to put my hand in there and pull out the hair. I also don’t like that the ball doesn’t let the vacuum get under furniture. I thought about getting a dyson canister instead but the dirt container is even smaller. So, Dyson engineers, you need to rethink your design and the ridiculous amount of money that these machines cost.

Dyson- My new best briend

Comments about Dyson DC41 Animal Upright Vacuum:

After years of coveting a Dyson vacuum, my husband finally bought me one after years of frustration of our old vacuum. I fell in love with Dyson DC41 and have never felt this way about a vacuum before. It has helped me clean up the very dirty mess (dirt, hair, pet hair, etc) in my home that my ex-vacuum left behind. I couldn't be happier with my new Dyson. The first day I used it, I was mad (irritated that my ex-vacuum did a terrible job of picking up anything) and happy (that Dyson is finally picking up our big mess). Another HUGE plus, my daily allergies that I use to have has improved tremendously! Thank you Dyson, for making me a very happy housewife!!!

disappointed

Comments about Dyson DC41 Animal Upright Vacuum:

We have owned a Dyson for about 60 days. I have to admit I was really excited about getting the vacuum. I'm called the vacuum king in my house and was really looking forward to getting the carpets, floors and couch very clean. Unfortunately I have been mostly disappointed with the vacuum. The vacuum works well on carpet but seems to really struggle on hard surfaces. It will not pick up small pieces of paper, dirt, pet hair, etc unless you go directly over the top of the dirt--it seems that a vacuum with so much advertised suction should suck the dirt into the vacuum when getting close but I find that dirt in corners or on base board edges will not be picked up by the vacuum unless I use the crevice tool. (my old vacuum, which is more than 20 years old will suck dirt and pet hair when I get within 2-3 inches. It seems to have stronger suction than the Dyson) It is also quite cumbersome to use the attachments with the hose. When trying to vacuum the stairs I can only go a few feet away from the vacuum or the pull of the hose will tip the vacuum over. The Dyson is too wide to fit on the stairs so I have to carry the vacuum up the stairs and hold it with one hand and vacuum with the other. We didn't return the vacuum within the 30 day window because I was honestly concerned that I was doing something wrong--I kept wondering how could this vacuum be advertised to be so good and do such a poor job of cleaning? If you have only one floor and all carpeted surfaces I think the Dyson will do an above average job for you but it is not as good as I thought it would be. Please do your homework and review other vacuums before purchasing a Dyson. I continue to be disappointed and even discouraged that I fell for the advertising and really expected it to be as good as advertised.

Top of the Line

Comments about Dyson DC41 Animal Upright Vacuum:

Easy and quick to assemble. Emptying the Canister is quick and simple. I was using another Upright, highend cleaner for the past few years. I had brand new carpet installed 3 months ago. I do not wear shoes in my house. I vacuum 1 time per week. The carpet looked clean. Now this is no exaggeration here: The first time I used the DC41 Animal, the canister filled up 3 times before it stopped picking up dirt. The canister takes les than a minute for me to remove, empty and re-install. I have always dreaded vacuuming. But these Dyson's are fun to use. It is like playing with a cool toy the way it manuevers aroung and does it's work. The vacuum is an ANIMAL. It picks up cat hair that I did not even know existed embedded in my new carpet. This thing sucks out dirt way down embedded in the carpet. That "Ball" you see in the picture has wheels on each side and allows you to get around corners and edges. It almoste drives itself once you use it a couple of times and get a feel for it. Again: Very well and ergonomically designed. And well worth the money. Lastly. It is an awesome looking piece of equipment. Looks like a work of Art. Just a beautiful design. Buy one.
