Dyson DC41 Animal Upright Vacuum - CLOSEOUT
The Dyson DC41 Animal is an upright vacuum cleaner designed to help remove more dirt, dust, allergens and pet hair from the home. It features Radial Root Cyclone technology, in which airflows have been remodeled to maximize suction power. The cleaner head on the DC41 Animal self-adjusts to different floor types, so there are no knobs or dials to adjust.

It has an active base plate, which creates optimal cleaner head contact, reducing air leaks and retaining more suction power. This technology gives DC41 Animal the strongest suction at the cleaner head. DC41 also features Dyson Ball technology making it easier to steer closer to edges, and into hard to reach places.

Included is the mini turbine head, to clean pet hair and dirt from tight and hard to reach places such as upholstery or in the car. The instant release wand stretches up to 5 times in length for stairs and high reach cleaning, and the clear bin empties at the push of a button. DC41 Animal has a lifetime washable filter, and there are no bags, belts or filters to buy. It features Dyson cyclones, which capture more dirt.

This is truly the best Dyson vacuum ever made. It's light, every maneuverable, has powerful suction, and it's very easy to use. In comparison to the DC25 Ball, the DC41 is far better engineered, and is better than its predecessor in every way imaginable. For starters, the DC41 has a much larger clear bin, and longer cord than the DC25 (the two most common grievances about that machine. With a cord that's 10 feet longer, and with nearly double the debris capacity, you will reach farther distances with less emptying. The little details on the DC41 should give everyone that uses it that the engineers put a lot of thought into designing the DC41 to make it more of a be-all, end-all flagship vacuum cleaner rather than just another niche vacuum with a specialty gimmick. The "Active base plate" ensures constant close contact with the floor surface for stronger pick-up. The brush roll has two distinct rows of bristles: one row of short bristles and one row of tall bristles -- this combination provides optimum agitation on both short and high pile carpeting. I was amazed at how well this machine deep cleaned considering it's rather small diameter brush roll. Cat hair, fluff, sand, and dust were pulled from my carpet every time I vacuumed. The DC41 Animal definitely cleaned my carpets better than my DC25, that's for sure! The "Radial Root Cyclone" system focuses air flow through the center of the cyclone assembly which promotes better cyclonic filtration since each of the 12 cyclones on the top of the bin receive equal air flow. Another design feature that I found rather thoughtful was the use of rounded airways to promote smoother and more efficient airflow. I recall seeing the DC07 with this same feature, but for one reason or another, Dyson lost focus on this feature on more recent models. I'm glad they brought it back on the DC41. Anyone with a keen eye will notice that the perforated shroud inside the clear bin has been replaced by a finer screen filter. This is to greatly reduce the likelihood of fine dust buildup, as well as promote greater airflow intake. The redesigned ball makes for a rather clean looking appearance since all of the ducting that would normally wrap around the ball have now been integrated inside of it. Since the wrap around ducting are no longer present, the DC41 has a much improved turning radius in comparison to its DC25 predecessor. Other improvements I've noticed include the larger dusting brush with softer bristles, the handle that is now fixed to the machine (makes for better upright rigidity), and I really like how the HEPA exhaust filter securely screws onto the ball rather than snapping into place -- having owned the DC25, I never liked how the exhaust filter felt loose and unsecured, even when snapped into place. Exhaust air would normally leak through the rubber gasket of the HEPA filter, and generate a lot of squealing and whistling. I will never have that problem with the DC41 thanks to its more proper design. Overall, this is a fantastic vacuum cleaner. Dyson definitely went all out in designing this machine. As having owned every generating of "The Ball" (DC15, DC25, and now DC41), I can say the DC41 is the best by far -- I loved my DC15, was disappointed by the DC25, but the DC41 is a quantum leap ahead of every Dyson in the lineup.

The Good: The vacuum has excellent suction. I have two dogs and two long haired cats and it is able to pull the hair easily from the carpet. I like the smaller size when compared to my Dyson DC7. I like that the head of the vacuum is clear so I'm able to quickly identify if it needs to be cleaned. I also like how easy it is to access the brush in the suction head of the vacuum compared to my DC7. The vacuum is easy to maneuver. The Bad or what needs to be improved: I think Dyson over engineered the head of the vacuum for maximum suction. I have 3 kids under the age of 7 and they will spill popped popcorn and popcorn kernels in to the carpet. I will manually pick up the large popped popcorn and use the vacuum for the kernels and broken off bits. The vacuum does not pick up these kernels easily. I make multiple passes from different angles and it will still leave kernels. My DC7 even at 5 years old could pick up the kernels better than the DC41. If an item larger than dust is sitting on the surface of the carpet, the vacuum tends to just push it around instead of sucking the item up. I like the idea of the ball when vacuuming. I dislike the rear travel wheels when trying to move the vacuum prior to or after vacuuming. The Vacuum will "break down" in to the vacuum position where it's resting on the ball. I want to be able to move the vacuum using the rear two wheels like I was able on my DC7. It's frustrating when I push the vacuum forward and the rear two wheels will not stay engaged. It needs a lock or something to keep it in the travel position. Overall the vacuum has been working well sucking up pet hair and dust/dirt out of my carpet - much better than my DC7. The vacuum is a fail at picking up anything large especially if it's sitting on the surface of the carpet. I'd like to see a travel lock or something so I can move the vacuum on the rear two wheels instead of pushing it around in the ball position.

Best of the 4 we've owned

By Tony94

Comments about Dyson DC41 Animal Upright Vacuum - CLOSEOUT:

We have owned 4 Dyson machines. This is the best so far. One was a canister in Europe, the rest have been US models. We have passed the others on to our kids who also love them. The only thing we miss is the crevice tool with the brush on the end which is great for cleaning furnace filters. I guess we'll have to go and find that item somewhere. After seeing them work, we have had several neighbors go out and buy Dysons.

I have had my new Dyson ...

Comments about Dyson DC41 Animal Upright Vacuum - CLOSEOUT:

I have had my new Dyson DC41 for about three weeks. I do not have any pets but, the new place we just moved into is all carpet and it get's very musty and dusty inside, making it hard to breathe so I thought that getting something with a little more suction would be worth a try. The DC41 Animal, works amazingly. On the DAILY it pulls up so much dust and Lint that I am so amazed every time I vacuum my house. The hose has just as great suction and it stretches pretty far. I will never buy anything but a Dyson from here on out.

Good product/terrible website instructions

Comments about Dyson DC41 Animal Upright Vacuum - CLOSEOUT:

No complaints, only praise for the product itself DC Animal 41. It moves well (if you ride a bike or motorcycle you can handle this), cleans amazingly close to the edge of a wall, the head is low and vacuums under the edge of furniture nicely, fantastic suction, not too heavy though not exactly light weight (smaller ones are). The container is easily emptied and mine came with all sorts of attachments.....with no explanation as to what they are for and there are no real instructions to this thing. A couple of diagrams on how to put it together, but no words, that's it. I always feel like I'm breaking it when I put it in position to vacuum. Instructional video sent by Dyson via their website didn't work (along with not allowing me to register the vacuum, saying the number was ID # was wrong on the box) , pictures didn't answer questions regarding all the attachments. It would be nice if they just included a manual since I've now had difficulty with their website twice.

Comments about Dyson DC41 Animal Upright Vacuum - CLOSEOUT:

We've had a lot of vacuums over the years and this is by far the best. Some of those were the in-home demo type machines that were supposed to be the 'best of the best.' But the Dyson surpasses all. We like the automatic height adjustment causing it to be at the optimum level for every surface; manual adjusting machines can't possibly have more than a few settings, but the floating head on the Dyson is perfect for every surface. The suction is the best of any machine I've ever used since I started vacuuming as a child (that was one of my jobs, and now I'm 52), but if it picks something up that stops the airflow, there is a 'escape valve' that seems to open to draw in air until you extricate the item. I like the fact that we never have to change belts (because there aren't any) and so the roller speed is always consistent. I like the fact that the cord is long and the plug is a nice size to grab when pulling it out of the wall plug. The cord wraps up 'manually' unlike other machines which have an automatic cord rewind mechanism which is just another thing to break (and they do). The Dyson ball turning radius is fantastic and the baby rotor head is great for stairs, both the flat and face portions. The suction really gets the dust and dirt out of the corners. The dumping of the canister is effortless and thorough and no bags to buy or tear! Our home is staying cleaner longer (including surfaces of furniture we have to dust) because there is more dirt that is coming out of the carpet with this machine that would otherwise stay with other machines and get stirred up as you walk around.

DC41 Animal Bought March 2014

Comments about Dyson DC41 Animal Upright Vacuum - CLOSEOUT:

This vacuum does a great job getting up our 2 dogs' hair and dirt on the kitchen vinyl floor and the carpet in the rest of the house. The turbo fabric tool also works well. I do have to pick it up to get into my office area because of a small opening between a file cabinet and the wall that the ball won't fit through. Otherwise it goes where I need it to well. My daughter uses it more than I do right now because vacuuming the house is her chore. She says it is doing a good job. Friends and most other reviewers had recommended Dyson overwhelmingly, and they were right.

Love it!!!

Comments about Dyson DC41 Animal Upright Vacuum - CLOSEOUT:

I had vacuumed my carpet with my old vacuum the day before we bought our dyson from Costco. I had just cleaned the filters and the dust bin was empty. I vacuumed slowly and methodically and was confident that I had given the vacuum cleaner every chance to perform at its peak. I was very surprised at the amount of dirt and dust that the dyson animal had picked up. The dyson tool design was different from what I was accustomed to with previous vacuum cleaners that I've owned but after using them several times, I'm amazed at how well designed they are. This vacuum and all the tools are so thoughtfully designed and engineered that it's apparent that this vacuum cleaner is truly a high end item. Even the design of the plug is well thought out. I'm so happy with my dyson. I love vacuuming now.

Excellent replacement for the old vacuum I loved

Comments about Dyson DC41 Animal Upright Vacuum - CLOSEOUT:

I had my doubts. I did not want a bag less cleaner. I must say while I hate the cleanup of the container after dumping the dirt. The other advantages far out weigh this negative I just love: The maneuverability...it zips everywhere! The ease at which you can push a button and go from carpet to hard floors...I love that I do not have to stop to do this. The satisfaction of seeing the dirt it is picking up..I know, I am weird. The nice long cord. For all of the sucking power, it is really gentle on my oriental rugs and the hand knotted fringe. Love the super long hose making it so easy to do stairs with the special attachment. You can also reach the ceiling fans... (one in every room in Georgia! The design of the hose and attachments is so convenient and easy to switch to. I have two other vacuums as to have one on each floor of my home. I just may toss them as I find myself carting my "Animal" up and down the stairs!! It is not heavy at all. .

Convenient and Effective

Comments about Dyson DC41 Animal Upright Vacuum - CLOSEOUT:

While not as light as I had anticipated, it's easy to use and quite maneuverable. I'm used to a canister machine, which means I'm used to dragging it behind me all over the house and quite often tipping it over while dragging it, clogging the filters. The Dyson was a new experience for me: nothing to drag and being able to get into tight spots with ease. It's the sports car of vacuums with unparalleled handling agility. Of course, all of this would be irrelevant without superior suction. I vacuumed the house with the old canister first and then the Dyson. The transparent dust bin showed me how much I had missed and was a snap to empty and remount. The extendable hose and attachments make it easy to get into areas high up without having to contend with the weight of the entire machine also. The only thing I would do differently, and I know it's difficult having to deal with more than one language, would be to give some written instructions for assembly assistance. With pictures only was a little confusing at times.
