The BEST Vacuum Period! - PERFECT FOR EVERYONE!

Let me first start of by saying that I have loved many products I have purchased but have never written a review on them but cannot pass this one up. Yesterday I was vacuuming with an old Kenmore lug around that has been with me for about 15 years and it finally gave up and stopped working. So I went to a local retailer (because I had a coupon) and purchased the Dyson DC33 Multi-Floor Vacuum. I decided on Dyson because I own the Dyson AM02 Fan and love it, and because everyone kept saying what a great vacuum it is. This vacuum is amazing, and I will never purchase any other vacuum ever! Oh, and just another pointer before I begin, this vacuum is one of the most powerful invented by Dyson as far as air wattage (suction) is concerned, it has a 240 air watt rating, most of the Dyson balls and Animal machines are in the 165 to 220 range. So about the machine, it is built very well and extremely durable. The suction power is CRAZY!!! Some background about my apartment, we have two medium hair cats (a sokoke forest cat and a russian blue) and a dog (pit-bull terrier mix). All three shed religiously, but the majority of the pet hair in the apartment comes from the dog. There is carpet in the bedroom and wood floors in the living room, dinging room, kitchen, laundry room, and bathrooms. I was able to vacuum my bedroom with the old vacuum before it died. I wanted to do the "Dyson Test" and vacuum my bedroom again and see what the old vacuum left behind. I about gagged when I looked at the bin. There was dust, cat hair, and carpet freshening powder (almost a full inch all the way around the bin). My carpet in my bedroom has NO smell at all anymore, the air in the bedroom is noticeably cleaner, and the carpet is fluffy and spongey again. The machine is incredibly easy to maneuver and here is one of the best features, you do NOT have to move cords laying around or by baseboards, the vacuum simply pushes them upward out of it's way to clean what is under them and then puts them back so to speak. Awesome design! After the bedroom I cleaned the entire apartment with the vacuum and WOW! This machine does incredibly well on hardwood floors as well! It has my floors completely spotless which has never happened since moving in due to the pet hair. There is no dog or cat hair anywhere, and again the air is noticeably cleaner and easier to breath. OH, an important point for those with allergies or asthma, this vacuum is allergy and asthma certified, it does not indicate this on the Dyson website when using the search for your perfect vacuum feature, but it is says so on the machine and the box. Also for those of you who wear contact lenses... I told my mother about his vacuum and she said they are nice but does not want to use one because she doesn't want dust in her contact lenses when she empties the bin. Good news.. This vacuum does NOT make a cloud of dust so emptying is suitable for even the most sensitive of contact lense wearer's. I wear glasses myself and have switched from contact lenses to glasses for eye health reasons. The attachments that come with the vacuum are a "dusting" attachment and a "hard to reach" attachment with bristles. They are both very well built and work well, however I do think I will be purchasing the other tool sets as they offer more versatility. About the hose/wand that so many people complain about... It is a little difficult to use at first but does get better with some practice. Many people complain saying it is impossible to use, that is most certainly NOT true it is usable but keep in mind that Dyson built the hose to retain DURABILITY so yes it is stiff but does loosen up after a coupe of uses and it most definitely reaches he ceilings. I did notice a little neck and lower back discomfort from using the wand because I was using it to clean a vent on the ceiling but I think that is pretty much standard when cleaning something 9 feet above you with a hose... The wheels glide so easily on any surface and it is easy to change directions if you wish to do so, the cord is CRAZY long, could probably do the whole apartment without moving the cord. The air that is expelled from the vacuum is clean, clean, clean! NO ODOR AT ALL! There are two HEPA filters that have a lifetime guarantee and have to be washed every three months minimum (ONLY cold water and NO cleaners, soaps, or scrubbing and wait 24 hours before using the vacuum after cleaning so the HEPA filter's may properly dry). As for mom's, please stop lugging around that old vacuum that picks up 1/10 of the dirt on your floor, and puts out dirty air with who knows what in it. You deserve much more than that, after all you are mom's! You do so much work around the house, from cooking to cleaning to homework, etc, you don't have time to use an old vacuum that you have to vacuum the same spot over and over again. Plus if you have children, especially babies and toddlers, you'll feel a lot better about letting them crawl on the carpet or floors once you know that they are actually clean. The vacuum is lightweight and easy to store, so those with mild arthritis or other discomfort should not have any problems using this wonderful machine. Oh, one last thing... before using my Dyson vacuum my apartment took on the familiar but not so pleasant "Oh you have pets, a dog and two cats. Hmmm..." even though I cleaned the house weekly, with one thorough vacuum the smells are gone, and I mean GONE!

I like my Dyson suction power, but very disappointed with the pull out hose for the attachments. The hose is very stiff and not user friendly, I love to clean everything and can not use my attachments, because of the stiff hose, just can't get it to flex like I like, takes to much time to work with getting the hose to do what you want it to do. I'm not happy that I made the investment for this vacuum for that reason. I have always made a investiment in a good vacume. I have had elextrolux, kirby, went with a cheaper vacuum once a windtunel, and now the Dyson. I have never had the problem that I have with the Dyson on getting the hose to work with me as I clean, it just will not bend the way you want it to do.

Comments about Dyson DC33 Multi Floor Upright Vacuum:

We had the predecessor to this model for, I believe, 10 years. That vacuum was made right. The DC33 comes close, but some of the changes are not that helpful. 1. Hose length. It does not reach a standard stair nicely. 8' ceiling which make 13 steps and I am fighting to get the top step. Not the top landing...the top step. 2. Extender tube. While ti is nice to not have to turn the handle and rigid tube around each time, that was a minor annoyance the feel of the now hard plastic tub that feels like it's going to break anytime you put some pressure on it. 3. Handles. Pictures on the website show differently, but you are NOT suppose to use the canister handle to transport the vacuum up and down stairs. You are suppose to use the handle of the vacuum. This makes for uncomfortable positions when trying to lug the vacuum around. Also, the handles them selves really aren't positioned nicely when using the hose and extender. I find myself using the area where the hose connects to the handle and extender. I actually did the same with the older version as well. 4. Accessories. The small floor attachment is cheap. While the snap in feature is nice and easy to use, the angle of the attachment is uncomfortable with doing small floor areas. The older version allowed the head to swivel around to accommodate the different angles of cleaning. Stairs at one angle, floor at the other. I was sad to see this feature to away. The combination extender attachment and brush attachment is a nice idea, but the brush is way to small. You are working twice as long to get an area cleaned. 5. Suction vacuum head. While the suction is fantastic, the rotating scrubber head, like before and probably any vacuum you get, gets loaded up with hair, string and whatever long pieces of dirt can get tangled in the head. Cleaning this out is fairly easy, but I would hope that Dyson is looking into a way to remedy this annoyance. Overall, I am disappointed that this vacuum does not live up to its predecessor. The only reason we purchased a new one is because the hose was ripping hear the connector. Otherwise we'd still be using it for regular house cleaning instead of using it in the garage. I like Dyson vacuums. I'd recommend them to friends. This one is only average though.

      Me and my cats

Comments about Dyson DC33 Multi Floor Upright Vacuum:

I bought a Dyson a month ago and I can't tell you how much I love it. I have 2 Maine Coon Cats to those who don't know they have very long hair. Five inch belly is average in this house. I have 3 different types of flooring in our house. The Dyson works well on all the types. If any of you have cats you know some vacuums shoot kitty litter right out the back. The Dyson does a really great job of picking up litter and nothing came out the back. The fur it picks up is amazing. I love how the machine comes apart in so many section, making it easy to clean. The design of the vacuum is brilliant. I actually am having fun running the vacuum wondering how much it's going to pick up and where it all came from.

Comments about Dyson DC33 Multi Floor Upright Vacuum:

My husband and I bought this vacuum cleaner, looked at different brands and models, decided on this Dyson, mostly because it was on sell. We have 3 small dogs that live in our house, and vacuum almost every day to control dirt and hair. this vacuum works like a charm. We have hardwood floors and some area rugs, after I vacuum, I can sit on the floor or a rug and not get up with hair all over me. Easy to use. Glad we decided to by this Dyson.

Comments about Dyson DC33 Multi Floor Upright Vacuum:

We have just brought home our new DC33 and have cleaned the house top to bottom - we are thrilled with our investment. However, we got it on sale, so that even made us happy! We've heard glowing testimonials from friends and even the sales staff at two different stores (Bed, Bath & Beyond & Sears) are convinced in its superiority. We recently had the carpets all professionally cleaned (twice a year ritual - with a three year old a must!) and even so, we gauged the dirt gathered from each room with something verging on amazement. The power of the motor was evident ("runs like a well oiled machine") as well as broke in the attachments and vacuumed the entire sectional couch & each cushion. Never having the ease of attachments before, armed now with the proper powerful tools, I'm ready for anything our child might dish out (hope that doesn't jinx me!) Thanks, Dyson.

      Best Vacuum Eva!

Comments about Dyson DC33 Multi Floor Upright Vacuum:

When I got married my mother bought me a "Premium" vacuum cleaner. It lasted me several years but was extremely heavy, very clunky and awkward to use. When it finally went I decided to buy a less expensive, but popular, 'lighter' brand. Well, it didn't do the job of my premium brand machine and it literally fell apart before it was one year old! I told my husband, you get what you pay for with vacuums and I wanted to try a Dyson. We bought the purple Dyson Animal back in 2003. I was THRILLED with my new vacuum. I even got 3 other friends to buy Dyson! I was constantly telling people what an amazing machine it was (I used to joke that Dyson should be paying me commission I believe in this product so much! ;->). Well, just this year (10 years later!) things started to go on my Animal and we decided it was time to get a new one and purchased the DC33 for an amazing price! I've only had it for one week, but so far it hasn't disappointed! I LOVE that it's even lighter and easier to use than my old Dyson. I just need to buy the hardwood floor attachment and I'll be all set for many years to come with my new love. We're even thinking of getting the old Animal refurbished and keeping it as a "backup" -- I'm having such a hard time parting with it!!! Keep up the good work Dyson!!

Comments about Dyson DC33 Multi Floor Upright Vacuum:

I recent;y quit my job and with decided to use some of my last check towards a Vacuum that I really wanted to use since I would be spending more time at home. I fell in love with this model. I bought it because I know Dyson is a reliable product that has yet to fail my parents and even myself as I used theirs. My DC33 is wonderful! I got one that is sliver gray red and an electric blue color. Glides over the carpet and tile easily. There is a loud chirp/suction noise that comes on when the vacuum is turned on or off but it doesn't bother me. Overall I'n very pleased with my purchase and would buy another would buy one for a friend or if someone told me that were thinking about getting one I might be prompted to force and or help them achieve that ;) Dyson is just an amazing company.

Not as good as older versions

Comments about Dyson DC33 Multi Floor Upright Vacuum:

I think around 2001 or 2002, we bough our first Dyson upright and were very pleased. After so many years it just wore out. Then around 2010 we bough the DC33 and were deeply disappointed. The quality of the plastic was considerably cheaper. Instead of three feet including a wide, a pointy, and a round brush with hair that connected, there was one cheap plastic fitting. They really cut corners in this one. :-( The vacuum suction worked good at first. Then after a year, it would not vacuum very well anymore. To try and resolve the problem, I thoroughly cleaned all of the parts and the filter; I replaced the hose, and still the suction was very poor. After a while, I finally gave up and bought a different brand of upright vaccum cleaner. I will not buy Dysan agan!

      DC33 Difficult to use

      By Brownieruf

      from Undisclosed

Comments about Dyson DC33 Multi Floor Upright Vacuum:

I find the DC 33 difficult to use and maintain. We have a small cat, and my wife spends 5-10 minutes after each vacuuming cleaning the carpet brushes. I know that Dyson markets vacuums specifically for pets, but I didn't expect that the DC33 would be this maintenance intensive. The extension hose is very stiff. It really is virtually unusable. We haul out the old central vacuum every time we need to use an extension vs dealing with the DC33 hose. I certainly didn't expect this from a Dyson vacuum. Needless to say, I'm disappointed.
