Cons

  • Fragile
  • Slow Load Time

Best Uses

Comments about Curtis Mathes Blu-ray Disc Player:

Great audio connections in the back (5.1 channel RCA) which allows me to use my existing amplifier and Language Filter for my kids. But also has an optical audio link for my home theatre setup. Fantastic !

It is fragile, during shipping a plastic panel came away. It was easily snapped back on, but handle it with TLC for better results.

Comments about Curtis Mathes Blu-ray Disc Player:

Got this on sale from Meijer.com. This thing was an absolutely great deal to replace my ailing upconverting-dvd player in my bedroom. For the price, this blu-ray player would be great for anyone looking to enter the blu-ray game. I can't speak to the picture quality at 1080p, but it looks great on a 720p LCD -- both upconversion and Blu-ray. Make sure you download and install the latest firmware update from Curtis Mathes and you won't be disappointed.

Good entry level blu ray unit. Picture quality is very good. Connections are servicable. Build quality prevents it from getting a 5 star rating. Looks and feels cheap. Firware upgrades are available online however they must be downloaded and burned to a disc.

Comments about Curtis Mathes Blu-ray Disc Player:

I own 5 BluRay players. The Curtis-Mathes surprised me with the clearest & sharpest images on my home 1080p lcd tv. It beats a Panasonic and LG blu-rayplayer. The other 4 players all produced about the same image quality, excellent. When I plugged in the Curtis-Mathes, I could tell immediately the difference in the sharpness. I think these are made by Funai of Japan as a low-end player. I don't care. It works great for me.[...].Whenever I buy an electronic, I always check for a firmware update to make sure it is current on it's capabilities. I had trouble burning an update disc and contacted the company by email. Within three days, I had a firmware disc in my mail box!
