We used to have a Jack Post Christmas tree stand (i.e a metal stand with detachable legs). Over the years the metal legs began to bend making the stand unsteady and this year our tree fell over. I did not want to purchase a similar tree stand and run into the same problem or buy a plastic tree stand that would eventually crack, so I placed the tree in a bucket of water and leaned it against the wall while I waited for this tree stand to be shipped. Setting up this tree stand was a piece of cake. As soon as we screwed the circular plastic base onto the tree trunk and placed it in the stand the tree stood up on its own. This made it easy to rotate the tree and find the best side. The only part that was slightly difficult was inserting the metal brackets (used to hold the tree in place) into the base of the tree stand since depending on the position of the lower branches you might not have enough clearance to do so. This is easily overcome by rotating the tree back and forth. One of the best features of this stand is the auto-stop watering system which makes getting on your hands and knees and crawling under the tree to refill the water a thing of the past. However, the supplied ties used to attach the tubing for the auto-stop watering system to the tree branches did not work well and we ended up using twist-ties that came with our trash bags instead. Another benefit of this tree stand is that the square base is easily covered by a tree skirt, unlike the detachable legs on our old tree stand. In order to keep this tree stand looking like new I used rubbing alcohol to remove any sap on the tree stand and then applied a protective coating of WD40 (oil) to prevent the tree stand from rusting.

This is a very good stand for large trees. It is made of heavy duty metal and is very sturdy. I also liked that it had this round thing at the bottom which seemed to help the tree keep taking in water even if the water in the stand gets really low.
However, my auto watering system did not indicate when to stop watering the tree. Not sure if I did anything wrong. I made sure the bottom part was level and well connected. The instructions say that the water will start to fill the funnel and start to slow going down the tube when the water level was high enough. Well, it did that whether the water level was low or hi in the stand. If anyone who has this stand knows something helpful, please post.
Also, in order to straighten the tree, you need to adjust the prongs and other parts of the stand. It is not like the stand where you use a pedal to unlock the tilt feature.
A few hiccups in the features but definitely worth it anyway.

It is currently holding my 9-foot tree perfectly steady.

My only suggestion for product improvement would be the following: Punch 1/4" holes in each of the 4 'feet' so that we can secure the stand to a piece of plywood or other surface. It would not harm the structural integrity, nor would most folks ever need to use them. It would just be a nice option to have.
