I remember Coleman products from Girl Scouting days. This was a gift for me but one that was much needed, much used, and well worth the thought behind it. I enjoy the multiple use of the separate lanterns on one base.

We have had a lot of blackouts in the NE & I was looking for something that can give light indoors that doesn't have fire and/or fumes. When I saw the Coleman Quad Lantern, I knew this was exactly what we needed.

The good thing is that you can take apart the 4 quad sections, using one section to light your way to another part of the house while leaving light with the others. You also don't have to light all 4 quads if you don't need it.

An unexpected benefit was that the batteries are recharged on the lantern itself so you don't have the expense of replacing (8) 'D' batteries.

Was sold on the idea of a rechargeble base for all 4 lights...Easy for the kids to detach/re-attach as needed through the night...excellent central light source for evening campground use...Filling the base with re-chargeble batteries is nice, but perhaps a recharging AC plug will be available on the next generation.

Great light output and sturdy. Removable pieces allow you to have light from the base and 1, 2, or 3 flashlights!
(As I mentioned it's "too heavy for backpacking", note it is not too heavy in general.)

These are great lights for emergencies, & I love the fact that the four panels are removable. Although the base uses 8 D cells, the panels take 3 rechargeable AAs each. I think the biggest drawback is that the covers to the AA compartments are held in place w/ a tiny screw. What if I don't have a screwdriver with me & need to replace the batteries?

Other than that, it works wonderfully. I even use it as lighting for some creative videography & photography.

I gave it for a gift to my son in law for Christmas. My 2 granddaughters played a little with it, easy for them to carry the side lights.

It puts out one of the brightest lights and it can be broken down into 4 seperate ligts. It is long lasting on D batteries. I took one to a South American country last year and now people there want one for themself. I am thinking about buying one for myself for when a hurricane knocks out the lights here in Florida.
My only complant is that it only comes in red.

This is a great lantern that is exactly as described. The light output is outstanding. This lasted a solid four nights of use for us and still has battery left. Great Item!
