Don't let the size and weight of this stove fool you. Any camping/hiking stove like this still requires you to carry fuel. When comparing weight make sure you add the fuel canister and hose of the competition. With the Coleman multi-fuel it has everything in one package! This is a great little stove and the fins make is pretty useful in low to medium wind.

When using with kerosene you'll need to change the generator (be careful with the needle!), and you'll need to preheat the stove with fire paste or a 1/2 oz. of methanol (Heet fuel additive works great). Why go to this trouble? Because kersosene can be found for less than half the price of white gas and it is MUCH safer to use than white or unleaded gas.

Even if you decide to use white gas with this stove it is a pleasure to use and boringly reliable.

So far I like it although I haven't used it for an extended trip. It works well with the unleaded fuel in my motorcycles tank and as long as care is taken when the fuel is syphoned it is fine. Gasoline is never a fuel to be taken lightly. The use of fuel from the tank eliminates having to carry a seperate fuel bottle and the worry about it's integrity when I ride.

Light & compact, the fuel options are the it's biggest advantage, you don't find much Coleman fuel, or gas canisters abroad, in the middle of nowhere.

Although I do a lot of "primitive camping," I actually bought this stove to keep in my work truck so I could heat up some inexpensive soup or stew on the road instead of carrying sandwiches or eating franken-food from a choke and puke (fast food). I could have spent less on other versions, but I wanted the versatility and longevity associated with the Coleman, and the meijer price was the best I found. It lights with a simple spark from my fire steel, and burns quieter than the pocket rocket. It's clean and fast. Packs away in a gas mask bag.

I actually am submitting this review for my son, who is deployed with the Vermont Army National Guard in Afghanistan. Being sick of MREs, he asked me to send him a portable multi-fuel stove he could cook on. I did my research, and Meijer had the best price on the one he needed, so I ordered it. I PURCHASED THIS UNIQUE STOVE SIMPLY BECAUSE IT CAN USE THREE DIFFERENT FUELS. WHILE I DO NOT ENVISION A TIME WHEN THE "LIGHTS GO OUT" IT IS REASSURING TO OWN A DEVICE THAT WOULD PROVIDE AID IN THAT INSTANCE. WE USE THE STOVE OFTEN FOR CAMPING AND BACKPACKING AFFAIRS AND IT HAS BEEN VERY RELIABLE AND GOOD TO US.
