It does not hold the ice for 5 days and the melted water doesn't stay cold for 5 days, just cool, even if you put ice in the cooler prior to use and keep it in a cool place while in use. You will have to replace the ice in about 2 to 3 days but you always need to leave part of the water in the cooler to make and keep the water cold.
