We bought this grill to replace the popular brand's portable 3-legged black kettle. What a revelation! We have never had so much fun and success grilling. OK, so set-up was not a breeze, because these are the worst instructions EVER. (Are you listening, Char-Griller...?) But you can't cook the same day you buy the grill anyway, because the cast-iron grates have to be seasoned. LOVE the cast-iron grates! And the whole grill is well-made, of sturdy, solid materials. Amazing quality for the price. SO, next day - get your chimney rolling (you NEED a starter chimney), get those coals red-hot, open the side vents, dump the coals in the slide-out tray, let the cast-iron grates heat up HOT, and sear those steaks, baby. This grill is amazingly stingy with the charcoal - last weekend one chimney-full cooked enough food for six of us. And the heat retention is phenomenal. After the steaks and onions were done we grilled nine brats. Then we put on a pound each of mushrooms and baby peppers for a next-day recipe. And the coals were still going! One last thing - this grill is WAY better than the retired kettle for creating a smokehouse flavor - cooking over real charcoal is the only way to go. We absolutely love our Char Griller Patio Pro.

I'm an engineer & it took my wife & I more than 2 hours to assemble. The charcoal drawer has 1/2" gap where it was not welded correctly. I would return it but it's too much work to take it all apart.
