Installed on 2003 Tahoe. PasslockII bypass was needed. Has great range and the included +/- electrical probe is a great tool for installation and future use. I would only buy a two-way starter unit after owning this one. Great unit.

This unit is not that hard to install. I am only 24 and installed this with no problems in 4 hours. I don't understand how other people have such trouble. You get the wiring diagrams and colors from the Bulldog site and it's easy as pie. I just bypassed my passlock with resistors... Little test light they give you is cool.

I've installed 7 of these into sibilings and friends vehicles and installation is a piece of cake, however, beaware that it does take time. Be sure to do the research and find out what you will need besides what comes in the package.

For instance, my brothers 98 F-150 XLT required 2 extra relays for the remote starter to function and 4 more for the remote lock and unlock function to work. While my 2005 F-150 XLT required no extra relays, however required a transponder to bypass the security to get the truck to start. Just gonna throw this in there while I'm at it... My other brothers 2005 F350 Diesel didn't require anything extra. Do the research.

Comments about Bulldog Security Deluxe 500 Two-Way Remote Vehicle Starter:

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my husband. I read all the reviews and understood that it may be a little difficult to install, especially since it's going into a Dodge diesel truck. But, my husband, who has been a mechanic for over 20 years, installed my auto-start just fine. So, it should be no problem. Wrong!!

First of all, the instructional video was dubbed IN FRENCH! Yes, in FRENCH! You can clearly see the man in the video is speaking English (I can lip-read, "Hi, my name is Jeff" - but what we actually hear is clearly French) So, the video wasn't much help since we couldn't understand a darn thing this Jeff guy was saying. The instructions were complicated and difficult. We never could get to a human when we called the 800 number for help. And believe me, we tried many times. Nope, no humans there. So, my husband swallowed his pride and we called up our local Dodge dealer. "Sure, bring it on down", they told us. "We'll get it installed for you. We do these all the time. It'll only take a few hours"

Well, it took them 16 hours. Really. They had our truck for one full week, but they couldn't find anyone willing to spend more than a couple hours on it at a time before throwing up their hands in frustration! Apparently when installing one of these in a deisel engine vehicle, you need all sorts of extra stuff that doesn't come in the package. They said they had never seen a more complicated auto-start installation. I'm not going to bore you with details, so to make a long story short, they said they will NEVER again install this peticular model auto-start. Ever again. For anyone. EVER. Really - they said that.

But on the bright side, my husband LOVES it. It cost over $300 in labor to get it installed,(Luckily, they only charged us for the quoted time of 4 hours, plus the extra necessary parts)But he says it was worth it!

I owned the old Bulldog 200 and it worked awesome, but the new Bulldog 500 is better. I would recomend you to try one. Technical support on their website is just what u need to complete the instalation, technical support over the phone is helpful also. You should convince yourself about Bulldog 500 Deluxe, so buy one and let it work for you.

Winter can get really cold in the Midwest but my car is warm before I even go outside!! It's great to be able to climb in to a toasty-warm car on the coldest of days. From inside the building I just hit the button on my remote starter & my car starts up! It's GREAT!!!

              - if you are not electrically/electronically savvy, don't purchase this
              - don't purchase and expect your local shop to install it
              - don't purchase and expect your buddy to install it
              - depending on your vehicle, for 1st time installers, anticipate at least 16 hours to fully install the unit and program all options
              - get the T-harness
              - research and be sure to get any additional relays and security bypass units needed for you vehicle as prescribed on the Bulldog website
              - solder connections as prescribed in the instructions, don't use crimp connectors

If you are willing to take on the project plan ahead and take your time splicing wire so that it will last for years to come.
