I have two dogs, a large and medium size. I cannot always get all of the dirt off of them at the door and the next stop is the family room. this carpet gets dirty as well as harbors the dog hair that gets enmeshed in the carpet. I have had the Bissell for a couple of years now and have been very happy with the performance and the results. When I use this, it looks like my carpet is brand new after finishing. The brushes help to remove the debris, the carpet cleaning formula is effective and I like that I can rinse afterward to remove any cleaning residue on the fibers. The carpet generally dries in 24 hours. I really could not ask for anything more.

This is the easiest carpet cleaner i have ever used. Lightweight, easy to maneuver. Does an excellent job getting my carpets clean.

We bought this carpet cleaner after we rescued a hound and later discovered that she wasn't housebroken. The biggest appeal of the cleaner for us was the positive online reviews and the strong advertising that is was "specifically designed for pet messes." After owning it for a year, using it approx. 8-9 times since we bought it new, we have found it sadly unsatisfactory.

Even though we make sure to vacuum the carpet thoroughly before each use, as the instructions say, it has repeatedly become hair-clogged (during each use) to the point that it can't squirt the cleaner. (After wondering if it was our vacuum, we borrowed two different brands of steam cleaners from friends without having any clogging issues with either.)

It isn't a powerful cleaner and only seems to clean superficially--the top layer of the carpet appears clean, but (we found after experimenting with other steam cleaners) doesn't get deep enough into the carpet to clean the majority of the mess--after cleaning with the Bissell until the rinse water came up clean, waiting for the carpet to dry, and then going over the spot again with a borrowed Hoover, the Hoover's rinse water was completely brown with filth that the Bissell missed.

It is cumbersome to dismantle for cleaning and heavy to move around. While this product may be good for superficial carpet messes, it doesn't seem to be able to hold up to the cleaning requirements of being "for pets." Unfortunately, the best part of this cleaner seems to be the fact that it heats water somewhat quickly. I'd highly recommend going with another machine.

great on staires, I've recomited this carpet cleaner to my daughter in law and she bought the same one. we love it.

its a little on the heavy side, (i have stairs), but its well worth the lifting, easier to clean up after using than previous models.

We had purchased a Bissel Steam Cleaner about 4 years ago and found it to be great around the house. My son borrowed it; it didn't come back the same--his dog attacked it and chewed the hose and the attachments. We missed having a dependable cleaner at our disposal. We had gotten our son one of his own and have now purchased our second model. It is effective in cleaning spills, tracks from pets, etc. We won't be without one again.

Awesome product. Stains have come up that I could not clean up with 'normal' household products....even dried paint came up off the carpet.
