Comments about Barilla Sauce - Tomato and Basil with Imported Olive Oil - 1 Jar (24 oz):

My wife is from marche region in Italy and cooks like a pro. She will not use store sauce. I use Barilla myself for a quick meal. I have tried Prego, Francesco Rinaldi and others and they make me gag. They all have gross flavor. I think they overdo it by adding too much seasonings and sugar. Barilla is very edible. It tastes close to what you can make home and it seems like it has natural ingredients no chemicals which is a big plus. I recommend Barilla sauce. The price is down to earth and the taste is not bad at all.

I used to use this product a lot, but they went and changed it and it is not the same flavorful recipe it had been. I have stopped using it and hopefully they will go back to the original recipe. a

Comments about Barilla Sauce - Tomato and Basil with Imported Olive Oil - 1 Jar (24 oz):

This is one sauce that I don't have to doctor up with other seasonings or herbs. Even when it isn't on sale the price is good, too. I like the sweeter and somewhat cheaper Prego, but since my BF is not a huge fan of it, this Barilla sauce works out PERFECTLY for the both of us. I literally buy 2-4 jars of the Tomato Basil a month. The basil taste comes through as a just a hint of the herb, it's not overpowering in the least (I don't like a heavy basil taste in food). I use it plain on sphaghetti, on mini English Muffin pizzas or thrown in some frozen Meijer meatballs and cook on low-medium for 20 minutes or so to serve up a quick / lazy spaghetti dinner with a salad a/or garlic bread. The overall taste of this sauce is 'fresh'. I look forward to incorporating it into a lasagna in the future. Good stuff!
