The Deer Thief Climber was originally designed by Joe Amacker in the 1970s and, due to its ingenious construction and functionality, has since been the example that most modern day tree stands have been modeled after. Amacker's flagship climbing stand, the Deer Thief, continues to be one of the most popular tree stands in the industry, still impressing hunters to this day.

With an all-steel construction weighing only 28lbs, the Deer Thief Climber is a "go anywhere" kind of tree stand, able to tackle almost any tree with ease. The serrated blade and throat spikes give additional tree grip for trees that are difficult to climb. However, the throat spikes may be removed for use in areas where damaging trees is discouraged. The large platform gives hunters generous legroom and allows the user to sit or stand at their leisure.
