Allied Precision Industries Pond Breather Heated Aerator
Vent harmful gases from your frozen pond with the Allied Precision Pond Breather. Harmful gases from decomposing matter and accumulated fish waste can be trapped under the ice in your pond and can reach toxic levels, possibly harming your fish and plants if not allowed to escape.

Rather than heating a hole in the ice, the revolutionary Pond Breather is designed to float in your pond, freeze into ice as thick as 15", and move a steady stream of water above the ice layer where gas exchange can then occur. Operating on 120V and at an efficient 40W, the Pond Breather uses 31 times less energy than 1250W pond deicers.

Every 24 hours, the Pond Breather exposes 4,000 to 10,000 times more surface area of water than conventional heaters or deicers. Supplying only enough heat to keep the water flow open, the Pond Breather creates a gentle current to move oxygen throughout your pond. Eliminate toxic gases from your pond with the Allied Pond Breather.

Comments about Allied Precision Industries Pond Breather Heated Aerator:

Got this as a gift for my boyfriend who has been trying to keep his water garden nice. He loves it, says it's quiet, uses little energy so it saves him money and it's great for keeping the fish alive in the winter :)

Comments about Allied Precision Industries Pond Breather Heated Aerator:

I have tried three other types that float and keep a hole in the ice open. In short, they all failed one way or another. This one not only ran all winter (-22 a few days) but when the ice melted on the pond, the water was crystal clear and the fish were moving about. You don't have to guess if it is working. Even in the dark you can hear the subtle gurgling sound as it cycles the water up through the gas exchange tube. I am VERY pleased with this device. In the spring your fish are alive and happy to see you. I even had frogs in the pond the other day when the ice melted. They always died before with the non-aerated types.

Comments about Allied Precision Industries Pond Breather Heated Aerator:

We have had one of this pond vents in 1400 gallon rubber lined pond for two winters, and it stays working reliably... does not ice up... in even -35C (-31F )weather. The pond is about 400 square feet, including two shallow bog zones, about 40 square feet each. The most central part of the pond is 5 feet deep. We place the pond vent near the deepest area, plug in the nice long cord to a GFI receptacle, and just leave it until spring. Our fish survival rate is very good, and the cost of operating the unit is neglible; it only uses 40 watts especially when comparing it to a deicer, which usually consumes over 350 watts. Durable, easy to clean. We have found that when the unit is still in the pond in spring, when the ice has not permanently cleared, algae tend to start clogging up the pump, so we just remove the top cap and blow a bit of compressed air down the hose inside the unit to clear it out, and normal operation resumes. I'm sure you could give it a blast of water from the garden hose/nozzle and that would also work well. It's a very minor problem... once a season is enough. Before you use it, double-check that the sharp lower edges of the cap's neck have not nicked the black insulating jacket of the heating cable. Round off any sharp edges at the bottom of the neck with a file or sandpaper to prevent that from happening. Great product.... would heartily reccomend.
