The nüvi 270 comes ready to go right out of the box with preloaded City Navigator NT street maps for both North America and Europe, including a hefty points of interest (POIs) database with hotels, restaurants, fuel, ATMs and more. Simply touch the color screen to enter a destination, and nüvi takes you there with 2D or 3D maps and turn-by-turn voice directions. In addition, nüvi 270 accepts custom points of interest (POIs), such as school zones and safety cameras and lets you set proximity alerts to warn you of upcoming POIs.
Like the rest of the nüvi 200-series, nüvi 270 sports a sleek, slim design and fits comfortably in your pocket or purse. Its rechargeable lithium-ion battery makes it convenient for navigation by car or foot.
Navigation is just the beginning. nüvi 270 includes many travel tools including JPEG picture viewer, world travel clock with time zones, currency converter, measurement converter, calculator and more. It also comes with Garmin Lock, an anti-theft feature, and is compatible with our free Garmin Garage where you can download custom vehicles that show your location on the map. This product is a great buy! I am not that great at electronics and this GPS was so user friendly and easy to use! We have used it traveling and just going around town - helps in rerouting around traffic. If I can use it - anyone can!

My husband is directionally challenged and electronically challenged. I was a little nervous about getting this for him, figuring our teenagers would have to help him A LOT. Not so! Very easy to use and very helpful to him as he drives around our city on business.

I "road trip" to sporting events frequently and since I am unfamiliar to these areas this gadget is a true lifesaver! Easy to use and very well supported by technology. Argues with me sometimes but that just makes the trip interesting!

Even though you can turn off the voice it can get annoying, especially if you decide to continue when it suggests turning. Sometimes it tells you to turn left (or right) when the screen shows turning the opposite direction, can be confusing.
Otherwise a fun and useful gadget.

Obviously it was purchased for ease of acquiring directions but have found the add on features great fun. Everyplace becomes a destination.

On a first time trip to visit out son,from Michigan to Arkansas, this device gave us the directions we needed without the use of a map and took us to his driveway at the exact estimated time of arrival. I bought 2 more for Christmas presents for family members. They rave about them. No more getting lost for any of us. We use it in our boat also. Love the bean bag stand, you can move it around and not have it stuck to your dash. Hope this helps!

I get lost easily and recently moved close to a large city that has everything you could ever want to do (restaurants, theatre, parks, etc.) and now that I have the Nuvi 270 (my husbands idea) I'm not nervous to try to find out where I need to go by myself. And it's so much easier than trying to refer to a piece of paper in the passenger seat beside you, losing your place in directions, and dropping the paper and not being able to reach it.It's so easy to use, my mother in law (not necessarily technology savvy) got a Garmin. I've only used it in the United States and not Europe, but it's been a great asset to me and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Touch screen is the best. Once in a while it will tell you to stay "left" when you really need to stay straight.

I really love my Garmin. I have always been one to be afraid to go someplace that I have never been. It now gets me to my destinations easily. It gives me more self esteem in getting in my car and driving to a unknown destination. It is really easy to use and I am not a electronic person. I would recommend it to everyone. The only bad thing I have to say was it told me I was at my destination and it was still a block away.

We use our GPS a lot. It is so nice not having to Mapquest everything. Just the other day we were taking our dogs to a new grromer who works from their home. So we took their business card and punched in the address that was on it into our GPS and it was as easy as that. It lead us right to the precise destination. We love it! There is no more guessing about how much further or what time we'll arrive, since it tells us right on the screen. So glad we purchased this product.

I got this for my husband for a gift. He thinks it's fantastic and doesn't know why we didn't get one sooner. We were traveling in Ontario and an ice storm started, we clicked on lodging and had the name of a hotel and it's phone # within 5 miles in no time. He has recommended it to several people who travel to strange places.

We bought one for my Parents who are in thier 70's
so they can get to places they have never been before and places they go to ocassionally

It looks cool, but it doesn't serve it's purpose. The GPS unit moves when it's attached to the bean bag - not good for people with motion sickness..
