Operation Uplink also hosts "Free Call Days" on holidays for troops deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan; connecting more than 900,000 troops with their families since the program began in 2006.

Meijer is looking for artists in our five state area (MI, IL, OH, IN and KY) to feature in Outside the Mainstream.

At Meijer, we look forward to supporting local artists and bringing you some of the best music you may have never heard. So musicians, it's time to step up. If you're from our five state region and think you've got what it takes - give us a shout. We're wide open to musical content, but you will need to meet our three rules:

1. No content that would require a "parental advisory" label if it were distributed by a major label.
2. Your CDs need to have a 12 digit UPC printed on them and be sealed with shrink-wrap.
3. We want musicians who are actively promoting their music. We want to be a partner, not the sole distributor.
